Ghost Recon needs Tools for User-Created Tactical Missions

    https://preview.redd.it/rn082vcaynu71.jpg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4bae41cbdb9a25954ca71cb917586cabf7e12f0c

TL;DR: Convert Ghost Recon: Frontline into the "Forge/Portal/Arma 3" of Ghost Recon. This will give us the freedom to create our own tactical missions, with near infinite content, and monetizable assets. Give us the tools. Let us make our own game to play.

I can't speak for everyone, but most of the time I spend playing both Wildlands and Breakpoint (hundreds of hours and counting, solo and with friends), I'm clearing bases. To keep it all fresh and challenging, we often assign ourselves challenges and put restrictions on how we execute this "mission". Over the past few years I have wished that Ghost Recon Breakpoint had the ability to reflect my challenges and restrictions. And with the boom of the User-created Content (UC) model, I am confident that Ghost Recon: Frontline is a perfect opportunity to deliver on this.

We have needed this for a while as a community. Something like what Halo 3 did with Forge and Battlefield 2042 is doing with Portal. Arma 3 is also a great reference when looking at providing Milsim tactical options. Also, there are many more successes that are a win/win situation for players, developers, and publishers using the UC model (Minecraft, Roblox, etc.).

This will give us everything we want and the Developers wont have to spend time on great work that doesn't necessarily serve the IP or the desires of the community.

Here are just a few key points supporting this...

    More Tactical Freedom

This is the heart of Ghost Recon. Many options + Great tools = Amazing Gameplay.

The assets have already been created. The maps, the weapons, the tools, the enemies and AI already exists (Wildlands, Breakpoint, R6 siege (as the currently more tactical game)). What remains is the framework that allows players to place assets and set win/loss parameters on a map (tile) that has open world autonomy.

Empowering the players to create their own tactical situations and missions will allow Ghost Recon to become whatever the player desires for it to be as a 3rd person tactical shooter. This also will provide a near endless amount of new content that players can enjoy. In addition to new shareable content via social channels, and as a result will market the game, thus expanding the player base and increasing sales.

The players would now be responsible for creating as much tactical immersion and difficulty as they can imagine!

Concurrently, this empowers the Developers to focus on the heart of what Ghost Recon is, immersive, volatile situations, requiring tactical maneuvers and combat. This relieves the Devs from having to try and predict what players want, then craft a fully narrative experience that also has to have a generous amount of tactical freedom one would expect from a AAA modern tactical shooter. Gameplay is what games are all about. Gameplay Gets the Gold. Narrative gets silver, and Graphics gets bronze. Trendiness for trendiness' sake gets nothing.

Keep it 3rd person with 1st/3rd person ADS option! I just felt this needed to be stated lol.

    Evergreen Replay-ability

    Work Smart...then Work Hard.

User creation tools give the players the ability to create our own fun (i.e. Forge, Portal, even GTA V game modes). Users will create scenarios on a map, with a core objective, AI enemies (PVE), mission parameters, and tactical obstacles (minefields, breach doors, traps, cameras, etc.)

As users create new scenarios, these can be found and filtered in a portal and/or shared via a Scenario code. This will inspire content creators and in turn will introduce Ghost Recon to new players and audiences seeking an accessible tactical Milsim community.

This only requires Developers to create the framework ONCE and then expand the assets that work within that framework. After a standard set of maps (or just tiles from Wildlands, honestly), new maps can be sold bundled with new tactical tools featured as tactical options on that map. New enemy types and behaviors can also be sold in packs as well.

This will minimize time spent on features that aren't directly gameplay related, thus saving money for the studio and publisher.

The Developers would set the tone by creating an environment, ambiance, assets and tools, and a framework to tie them all together with mission parameters and win (Egress/Exfil) conditions. By doing this, players can act as their own, "Bowmans", "Ghost Teams" (PVE) and Insurgents/"Wolves" (PVP).

    Large Expansion/DLC Potential

We don't mind paying for equal or greater value in return. Whether that be in time and/or money.

Similar to Minecraft, players can buy REASONABLY priced expansions packs that will enable them to provide new and unique experiences well after launch. New maps, tactical tools, vehicles, challenges (i.e. no ammo or no spare mags, no drones, no alt visions, no alarms, CQC only etc.) and situation frameworks (i.e. hostage situations, bomb threats, wet work, counter terrorism, convoy hunts, smash and grabs, etc.).

Weapons and tools can be earned by appropriately balancing in-game currency to unlock new weapons and having the option to purchase premium currency to purchase weapons.

An idea is to have an in-game asset (think a loot create from Breakpoint) that can offer a player's "wishlisted" weapon on RNG if the player has enough in-game currency from previously played missions and has weapons in their wishlist. If there is no weapon on the player's wishlist, the full loot table will be RNG.

This way the emotion of unlocking a weapon diegetically can be preserved for those who want to earn their weapons. There are plenty of people who dont have the time or will to earn weapons in-game. They would rather buy them. I highly recommend you let them. Just don't undermine those who want to play the game and be rewarded for it in-game. Requiring a player to pay you money, gets you money. Requiring a player to put in time gets you a fan...who also wants their friends to play too...who also have time and money. :) Encourage both!

This is a better way to continually monetize a community. Evergreening what they desire. You must believe that Ghost Recon is a trend of its own, and doesn't need to be a Battle Royale to get Battle Royale results.

These are just my suggestions! I would love to read more here! Let all work to make Ghost Recon a game we all love as Players, Devs and Publisher!

Devs: I would love to help if at all possible! I applied for the insider program as well (TheKrakken88). If we can collaborate it would be a dream come true! Thank you Ubisoft Bucharest for ALL of your hard work! Let's refine Frontline together!

    The island...

    Posted: 20 Oct 2021 04:49 PM PDT

Is anyone else kind of tired of running around this island.. like the structures don't do any justice for the game.. they look out of place and just kinda boring. Your roaming through a somewhat plush jungle and bam..all of a sudden this clean, beautiful, white and gray immaculate building that looks like it just sprouted up out of no where. I would love to go back to a wildlands look.. or if they make a new game.. do a middle east style setting.. I think that would be fun.

Also I'm still hoping in one of the new episodes to come they bring in air craft carriers and giant ships to infiltrate or something. That would be cool. Imagine trying to infiltrate a air craft carrier or carge ship.. and roaming through the corridors and rooms there.. it could help bring life back to the game.

    A little thought on motherland

    Posted: 20 Oct 2021 06:48 AM PDT

Now I know many people are divided on how to feel about the motherland update, it's supposed to be the biggest update yet and no one really knows if it'll be good or a final update for the game, in my opinion I think we should give it a chance, for months they've worked on it and and we are a couple days away from the release. Breakpoint has grown in terms of updates and improvements and now with the complete delay of frontline which received mass amounts of backlash I think they should continue to put some time into breakpoint, take the creative route and see what else they can do before moving on and leaving it for the dust to settle.

    Timeline continuity or order

Are the Ghost Recon games connected by a timeline? And are they in the same universe as Splinter Cell and Rainbow Six?
