Posted: 28 Nov 2019 03:05 PM PST Ahead of time I was really worried about the drones being "bosses" in a raid in ghost recon. I thought it would be nothing but bullet-sponges and bullet sponges are not fun at all, sort of like the ground based drones you can find on Auroa, they're really boring to play against. However I was very pleasantly surprised. I'm not saying the raid is perfect content, but I actually had a lot of fun which I hadn't had in Breakpoint for quite some time. The boss didn't feel like a bulletsponge, it felt like a sort of "stress-management" party game, kinda. Like playing overcooked with friends, just that it was now in an action shooter. I found 3 guys from the community discord and we grouped up and worked our way through the first zone of the island. We ran into some questionmarks regarding exactly what was expected and the actual exploration of the zone wasnt very engaging, not gonna lie. It was just like going around on Auroa between bases and shooting people. However when we got to the boss it got fun and engaging. Trying to work out a working strategy was fun, trying to get used to what voice belonged to who became part of the challenge. Managing the transfer of laserbeams, having someone grab aggro on the tank and keeping its back exposed to the rest of the team and rotating through the aggro while also making sure to manage ads was pretty fun. Took us a couple of tries before we got it down, first time we pretty much insta-wiped, second time we figured out the mechanic of transferring laser beams, third to fifth attempt we got really close and we won on the sixth. Overall a far better boss-encounter than I had expected, I'm looking forward to trying out the other bosses and hope they have fun mechanics associated with them as well. Bit disappointed that the actual exploration of the first sector was a bit of a snooze that didn't really offer anything new (and of course I was unlucky with the drops too) but at least the boss was actually fun instead of feeling like a chore. Pleasantly surprised from my first impression, not sure how the rest of the sectors will be or how the replayability will be but it was better than what one would expect from this game. If I'd have to put a rating on the boss fight I'd actually put it somewhere around 8/10 or so. That's not counting the exploration of the first sector, just the boss. Far better than many bosses in shooters have been, solid stuff. Probably worth mentioning that until people have ran this boss many times and the community is used to the encounter it will likely be next to impossible without voice communication However I think it was definitely worth that they were okay with making a bossfight that will require communication, without that aspect of the fight it wouldn't be fun. People who want to experience this should just head to the community discord and find a group, that's what I did! [link] [comments] | ||
