This seals the deal. Breakpoint is better than R6

Thank you Ubisoft. This live event is what Ghost Recon is about. It gives us new enemies and factions to fight against.

Why breakpoint feels so empty and boring?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 02:03 PM PST

I recently picked up breakpoint gold edition after hundreds of hours in wildlands last year, and after only 20 hours, I am already bored of it.

The whole Mission structure feels so empty and repetitive. It's like go there pick up some intel and then go the next next spot and repeat. I know wildlands had a similar mission structure, but something about it made the effort worthwhile.

I have tweaked the setting to play on more challenging difficulty, but the game still feels like a huge waste of time.

I am not sure what rondo to make the experience better since I am really enjoying the environment so far.

Some random thoughts on what I would to see in a future Ghost Recon game. (Part I)

    Story / Setting

Operating out of the Sea of Japan. Ghost would visit Russian, China, N. Korea and Japan.

Being a reboot of the series the game would take place around 2018 (while the original took place in 2008 this allows access to new weapons and still allows the ghost to have the best most high-tech gear without being sci-fi). It combines elements for the Original Ghost Recon and Ghost Recon 2. It involves a plot of Ultranationalist Regime forces trying to overthrow the Russian government and gain access to their nuclear and chemical weapons. The regime in funded and influenced by other terrorist organization found in N. Korea and China, and later discover to be partly funded and being provided with high tech weapon systems by Japanese criminals organization. The Ghost are sent to gain intel on and dissolve the Ultranationalist regime. Around half way through the game war erupts in the region and Ghost are shifted to direct action and the support of UN and American troops deployed to stabilize the region. Its is single player with drop-in / drop-out multiplayer. Other players fill the places of AI squad mates when they join.

    Maps / Regions

The game would have at launch 4 main maps. Each map is around the size of 4 regions in breakpoint. You can continue to play missions and side missions in the map until you choose to leave (similar to MGS V). There are also "Assault" maps that are smaller and more like quasi-open COD maps. These are like raids from Zero Dark Thirty, Future Soldier or more a semi-open version of "Clean House" from MW2019. The Ghost would be working out of an Aircraft Carrier stationed in the Sea of Japan. Once at the aircraft carrier the ghost can upgrade equipment, squad members, supports etc.

Russia - The Russian map contains environments similar to Ghost Recon 1. A large Russian city, few smaller towns, mountains, forest, saw mill, tundra and abandoned military bases.

    N. Korea - Similar to Ghost Recon 2 maps this contains a large dam, an airfield, rivers, small towns and ultranationalist controlled military bases.

China - This includes a lot of open fields, farms, factory, ultranationalist training camps.

Japan - Based off some islands in northern japan these include higher-tech building, satellite dishes, secret submarine base. Most of these missions will be extreme stealth mission as the Ghost can not operate on these Japanese controlled islands. These contain lots of cameras, sensors etc. (more like splinter cell)

Assault Maps - These are smaller maps thought of as quick hits. Through out the story certain "targets of opportunities" arise. These would have the Ghost exfil their current Region to be sent to these places. When presented the player chooses where/ how to infiltrate. Options include HALO jump, Helo fast rope, on foot / small boat. These intros are animated (like fast roping in (MW 2019 matches). These are highly replayable for fun, but serve to change up the formula of the main game. These include:

    - Surfaced Ultranationalist Submarine (Sea of Japan)

    - Oil Rig (North Pacific)

    - Cargo Vessel (Philippine Sea)

    - High Rise (Tokyo, Japan) (With support from the Japanese S.D.F)

    - Compound (Afghanistan)

DLC ideas for regions based on original DLC for Ghost Recon and Ghost Recon 2

Philippines (Island Thunder), Africa (Desert Siege), Kazakhstan (Summit Strike)

    Gameplay

Main things gameplay-wise I would like to see added to the Next Ghost Recon game:

Select your squad out of multiple choices. Each squad member is unique with unique abilities. Being a reboot Ubi could pull from all previous games. These characters would not die but if injured and left they will be captured which would start a unique side-mission to rescue them (as seen in X-com).

Squad members gain stats the more they are used and earn medals (which provide buffs) for actions in missions.

The player character is a new character (who only has a code name like Nomad) and can be Male/ Female and is fully created by the player. While the Squamates have a "default" appearance they can be modified by the player. You could also bring along "fighters" who are like rebels, these would only have passive abilities and can die if killed in combat. Made a mock-up awhile back:

DLC specialist can be pulled from other Ubisoft titles or all new concepts.

    Advanced Gunsmith

This new gunsmith would pull from some of the best ideas in the industry right now. It would get rid of the idea of "variants" and have the weapons be even more customizable.

This would work similarly to MW 2019 on the surface. Multitude of barrel options (which visibly change the rail), Multiple suppressors, triggers, etc. Here are some specific additions I would like to see to gun customization:

Caliber change: Many Rifles change have a multitude of caliber changes (something brought over from MW 2019)

Grenade Launcher types: Smoke (various colors), HE, Incendiary, Flash, Recon, EMP.

Wraps: Leaves, Ghillie, Canvas, Mesh, Shell holders, Slings,

As A New Player To The Series, Why Is Breakpoint So Looked Down On?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 06:54 PM PST

I'm not trying to bash on peoples opinion on the game, I'm just curious as to the issues people have with it.

I had gotten this game while going to get Metro: Exodus, originally I was going to get Wildlands but GameStop apparently had no Wildlands discs available, albeit still having cases, so the cashier said I could get the sequel.

So far about 20 hours in and I've really been enjoying it, I haven't played a Ghost Recon game since like 2008 when I had a 360 and I don't even remember which one it was. I have seen a few complaints that I can agree with like the world feeling kind of empty and the customization being a tad lacking (at least in the head department for me) but otherwise I haven't really seen people complain about anything besides these. I'm just curious in asking, are there bigger reasons people prefer Wildlands over this one?

Anyone else not able to connect to servers? I'm on ps4 pro and cannot connect. Network is ok, modem ok, just times out. Or is there a maintenance thing going on?

    Thanks in advance.

    Challenge Timer

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 01:25 PM PST

How long is "quickly"? Why are some challenges absolute with timers by saying "Kill X enemy In 10 seconds" and with others they are "kill x enemy after landing a parachute" "Quickly" is pretty objective imo.

Touchdown on one try. Tips: use NVG to check the direction of the runway. Do a U turn and get some distance between the runaway. Decrease speed as you come in and make sure you come in straight.

    Windy islands?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 02:30 PM PST

Is there a reason why there's like nothing in this region, it's so weird coz every other reason is packed with bases and locations but this area (especially bottom islands) has nothing. Just patrols but doesn't make sense since there's not bases. Was this for like dlc or is it just to make the area not as pact. Also the seal islands are abit boring too. Wish they'd add more places, but I doubt they will. Anyone else agree or nah?

Neck is now covered. I like to change the camo depending on my environment. Otherwise I go in all black. I mean we’re the ghosts for a reason right?
