(Breakpoint) Does Immersive mode + AI squad allow me to target anything now?

Before these modes existed, the Gear Score dictated what you could do, so some things early on like Wolf Camps would be a death sentence to try and approach. But Immersive mode removes Gear Score, so everything on the map seems "fair game", and the AI squad members would help even further. Can I choose to tackle anything now as a result and I should be "alright"? Or should I still avoid until later?
