Another new Wildlands play through - This game never gets old

    Posted: 27 Feb 2020 04:18 AM PST

If Ubisoft is not going to communicate nor deliver community requested features, then this game needs to be opened up to mods. Plain and simple as that. Now, this would only benefit PC players but a lot of good ideas come from the modding community. Things that can be carried over to sequels, etc.

    Posted: 27 Feb 2020 11:09 AM PST

As an example, Insurgency was originally based on counter strike mod.

Escape from Tarkov is based on a mod of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

DayZ - based on Arma mod (when it was good)

Breakpoint Has Good Bones and That's Why I'm Disappointed

    Posted: 27 Feb 2020 03:01 PM PST

I've been really vocal about my grievances with this game, and it's because this game could be so great. The movement, especially when crouched and prone feels fast and fluid. The gun sounds are pretty good, and the gunplay is enjoyable. I feel like I earn headshots and winning gun fights feels like you actually won, not that you just held the trigger long enough. The map, while devoid of life, isn't that bad. It has some amazing areas, and finding the vantage spot to snipe from is actually fun.

Even with the AI, engaging them feels like an actual consequence. I went back and played Wildlands and stealth isn't as fun or rewarding when my squad and I can just mow them down if shit goes south. BP made us think twice about how to move forward without alerting a base. Some of the guns are really cool, and I wish we had more of them. Wildlands had TONS of named/unique/exotic weapons, and I really miss those. I love the HTI Survival, G28 Wilderness, and such but I'd LOVE to add ghille wraps to my other guns, or leather wraps, tape, whatever to make it feel like MY gun.

Now, granted, the gunsmith sucks ass; the AI is easy to predict, even after what I said; The vehicles are a joke; and the amount of shit stuck behind pay walls and raid mechanics is absolutely atrocious. I'm just so annoyed at how this game has some really good ideas and bones to it, but they manage to make me hate it.

Add to that, Ubi's complete lack of communication, the constant delays for updates and patches (WHY?), and the pushing of MTX and Raids constantly, and you rub a lot of people the wrong way. I wish Ubi would just give us weekly updates, even if it isn't much - Keep the lines open. Involve us in the development, like every other Ubi team (Looking at Division and Siege).

Hey Ubi? Can we have the Blackhawks back from Wildlands? Most of the other vehicles ended up in BP.

I think this needs to be said

    Posted: 27 Feb 2020 01:47 PM PST

I don't know if anyone said this already but this is just me personally but I feel as though it needs to be said

I am actually ashamed to be part of this community right now and for good reason.

So just of late Ubisoft said that they were going to delay the update until March now this is something that people are angry about I understandable.

What is not understandable is how people got so angry that they would threaten Ubisoft employees and wish harm on their families, that is not okay.

I get it, people are angry about the lack of communication and feel as though Ubisoft have abandoned the game but, that does not give someone the right to threaten someone who is currently working to fix the game day in and day out but to wish harm on their family that's a line that was crossed and that's shameful and all of that over an update for a game

We have to remember that our words are very powerful and that what we say can hurt someone more than we know because we never know what someone going through.

So go ahead and down vote this until kingdom come but that doesn't change the fact that you guys should be ashamed of yourself for your actions

     I AM ASHAMED

Let's all admire the communication and community involvement of Microsoft Flight Simulator as they develop an absolute beast of a program.

    (Remove if unrelated)

    https://www.flightsimulator.com/

    Front page updates

Besides tactical shooters, my other (long lost) love is flight sim. If you aren't aware, MSFS is set to release potentially one of the most detailed sims ever created, and their transparency throughout their announcement has been incredible. They've released in-depth feature episodes, not only showing off what is going to be in the game, but HOW they actually developed the technology. They are clear about their release schedule and the reasons for delays. They are featuring community posts and hype-up. It appears that the developers aren't just there to create a product, but to follow a passion and deliver an experience to fellow aviation enthusiasts.

Oh and by the way, the studio is in France....

Anyways, my point is: it IS possible for extremely complex and high end projects to have exemplary outward communication throughout the process that not only informs the public, but involves them too. It's really exciting to see such a positive community and seemingly well-run organization.

Here's to hoping we can get more of the same.

    Give mod support to wildlands.

    Posted: 27 Feb 2020 01:16 PM PST

The PvP is separate, and online could just require having same mods installed like Arma.

Would give time for Breakpoint to mature and modders to fix wildlands for free.

    Ghost Recon Alternatives?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2020 11:36 AM PST

It's time for me to look at some alternative games to play while Breakpoint is doing what Breakpoint is doing. What kind of tactical co-op alternatives not named Ghost Recon are out there that you would recommend on PC?

So in the latest briefing they said that they are gonna change Nomads signature weapon to match the promotional material...

    Posted: 27 Feb 2020 06:21 PM PST

So in the latest briefing they said that they are gonna change Nomads signature weapon to match the promotional material...

But the current "Signature weapon" is the 416 Shorty | Brown which can only be bought for ghost coins. If this means that the 516 SBR that most people want and was shown in every single piece of promotional material, is gonna be locked behind MTX I'm gonna freak out.

Not only is this a D**k-move from the devs, but also it took them 5 months to notice that the wrong rifle was in the store? No way.

The current \"Signature rifle\" (old pic, the price may have changed)

My theory is that noone bought the 416 Shorty|Brown becuase it's ugly and when they notive how so many people ask for the rifle shown in the promotional apperance they decided to switch the rifle in the store.

    The rifle everyone wants.

If this turns out to be the case I don't care about the Immersive update, I'll write of this game, Ghost Recon and Ubisoft as a whole!

What a legendary game would be:

    Posted: 27 Feb 2020 07:27 AM PST

If wildlands 2 is ever released and has realistic mechanics and gameplay, (for example: adding more body armor to your character, or more gadgets ,guns, and attachments to your loadout, or wounds during or after combat, and type of camouflage would all effect your character's stamina, speed, accuracy, personality, and stealth) and better and more fluid and realistic fighting like the one in Tarkov, post scriptum, insurgency sandstorm, and modding like in arma 3, and most importantly an actual, alive and responding world, it will be one of the best games of all time and a best seller

    An example of communication

    Posted: 27 Feb 2020 07:31 AM PST

I know comparing games and studios is a bit like comparing apples and oranges, and it's not necessarily fair to make direct 1:1 pairings--THIS game/studio does it, why can't THAT one? However, to completely ignore what other studios do is just as much a folly, I believe.

In that vein I wanted to share a blog post from Blizzard about Diablo 4, holding it up as an example of the kind of information and communication that gamers really appreciate--and to highlight how much of a polar opposite it is to what Ubi paris has been doing with Breakpoint.

    https://news.blizzard.com/en-us/diablo4/23308274/diablo-iv-quarterly-update-february-2020

Now, I know Blizzard is Blizzard and Diablo is a bigger property than Ghost Recon, with a larger install base and a wider audience. Tactical, realistic third person military shooters are somewhat niche (less niche than I think they get credit for being--there is a big and hungry audience for them that I think goes unrecognized). That said, Paris proudly boasted of their 1,000+ development team for Breakpoint, and how they wanted to support it for years to come--don't tell me they don't have the personpower and the resources.

I don't expect Breakpoint to perfectly emulate what you see in this post. But notice some of the key details which showcase the care, passion, and attention from developers: look at language when describing types of enemies, and how engaging with those enemies feels, and is meant to feel, to players.

Can you picture a Paris rep talking about how engaging with shotgun-wielding breachers or aamon drones is meant to feel? Can you picture a blog post going into detail about interface functionality, or how the survival elements of the immersive mode should function?

Whatever you think about Blizzard and Diablo, this is a strong example of what communication to the fans about a game can look like, if you want it to.

The fact that we haven't seen this type of communication, or indeed any at all, when we definitely could and should have, must tell us one of two things: they're incapable of it (which I don't believe), or they don't want to.

I wanted very badly to enjoy Walker's boss fight

    Posted: 27 Feb 2020 09:14 AM PST

Honestly, in spite of all the talk of how frustrating this final mission was, I went into it feeling good. I cleared out the base in one go with ease, using an attack chopper to wipe out the drone in no time at all. And then I go in to face off against Walker, the only positive in the entire story.

I love the setup. You versus him, he's protected by drones that you have to destroy to take him out. And he's got Wolves backing him. Rock solid stuff. I love that a hell of a lot more than Wildlands terrible final mission which not only didn't have a boss fight against Tattoo man, but involved a metric fuck ton of driving.

...Then I find out pretty soon that Walker's gun kills you in two hits, and if you get critically injured at any point, you're ass outta luck. And then I learn, every single time you die, you get respawned outside of the base and gotta spend a minute just getting back to the base to fight Walker again.

I loved the setup and wanted very badly to love the fight itself, because minus that itty bitty infuriating detail, everything about it was great. But then I keep dying. I keep trying to play it like a proper stealth action game, attacking the goons from the corners and hitting Walker's drones when he doesn't see me, but one goon doesn't die fast enough, and automatically, everyone knows my location forever with no way to shake them off and attack them from the shadows again.

Suddenly, I'm not having fun anymore. Suddenly, the one boss fight of the game that actually felt like an honest to God boss fight is making me want to cease existence. A good half hour of this bullshit trial and error passes until I just say fuck it and cheese the fight. I lure Walker near a ton of C4, blow it all to kill his drones in one fell swoop by sheer dumb luck, headshot him and end the fight in under a minute, and promptly realize the entire ending of the game is basically one big "to be continued." And now, that's being called into question because Ubisoft just told us there's a delay in their patch.

See, here's the thing. I'm sure this patch is gonna help a lotta folks, but it's not gonna fix the fundamental problems with this game. That being the fact that the missions are dogshit, and Walker's boss fight is a textbook example of that. Even if we get this 'immersive' nonsense, what's it in service of? Missions that string you along from place to place, making you drive or fly extensive distances, or just fast travel everywhere? Boss fights that either end before they even begin, or make you wish you weren't bald so you could pull your hair out because of frustrating design choices?

A video game; open world or not, is supposed to be held up by the strength of its missions. Open world bumming around only has so much staying power. A strong video game is one that makes you wanna revisit the missions after you beat them, and for the life of me, I can't think of a single mission that would make me wanna do that. All the boss missions require dicking around other bases just to hear, "Sorry, Mario, but your non-boss is in a different outpost," all the main missions mostly consist of going from A to B in lengthy distances. And all the drones are meant to be fought with other people.

Instead of Ubisoft focusing on this immersive mode, I'd much rather actually see them fix the game and their terrible design choices. Things like making the bosses feel like actual bosses, not having Walker's gun be a giant "fuck you" to your time, and of course none of that's gonna happen because why would they invest so much time into a game so many people have already written off as a cynical failure?

I really don't like being a Negative Neddy, I don't even hate this game as much as most people do, but unless the patches address the core problems of the games mission design, all the patches in the world won't save Breakpoint.

........unless they patch in a mission / level editor. Then I'm all in on that shit because Far Cry 5 was one of my favorite shooters of all time for Arcade Mode alone tbh.

    Continuous Crashing...HELP

    Posted: 27 Feb 2020 07:11 PM PST

    For the love of god...Help....

My game will crash 15 minutes in. Doesn't matter what I'm doing, single-player or multiplayer. I've tried everything I've found.

    Made sure drivers were updated

    Set to 60 frames

    verified files

    ran memtests

    made sure caching was off

    made sure caching was on

    drop graphics

    Uninstalled and reinstalled.

I can't figure out whats going on and its driving me FREAKING CRAZY. I'm ready to drop this game and go back to Wildlands, but i have 1000 hours in Wildlands and have played it to death and want to play through Breakpoint.

    Here are my specs:

Ryzen 2700x(no overclocking as I've ready that causes issues)

    Asus ROG 2080 Super

32 gb of Gskill Trident Z at 3200

    Corsair H80i V2

multiple hard drives, but this one is installed on my 1tb Samsung EVO 870

All other games work, everything, without crashing. I can't figure this out. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

New Player - Wildlands or Breakpoint?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2020 04:04 PM PST

Hey friends, I've done some searching online and haven't been able to pick whether I want to play wildlands or breakpoint... I have watched some gameplay of each. I play solo, and enjoy AI teammates, lots of customization, and I don't do microtransactions/dlc unless it has more missions. Which do you think would be a better fit, and what are pros cons of each game (for those who have played both)?

Also, sorry if this is asked alot.
