What I believe they did wrong with the RPG mechanics. Posted: 12 Feb 2020 03:50 PM PST I have been thinking a lot on military shooters lately (I have been playing a lot fo them too of course), and I came to the conclusion that the problems with the RPG mechanics/systems/whatever you want to call them; in Breakpoint, is not that they are there, it is how they are implemented. Breakpoint has an RPG system that belongs to a different type of RPG, than a military RPG. It belongs in a game like The Division, Destiny or even WoW. Games that are RPG first. I believe this is the reason so many of us find the comparison to The Division so intuitive, despite the two games being very different if you analyze the mechanics if each game. If you for instance, take a look at Escape from Tarkov(EFT), then you'll find that EFT also feature a lot of RPG systems. You have a character that you customize with loot, who can go into a lot of different semi-permanent states while you play. The gear you equip your character with has different rareities and strenghts to it. The character levels up as well. Not only does your EFT character have a mainlevel showing your "experience with the game" EFT also has skills that level up as you play, such as reload skills, endurance covert movement, weapon type skills, stress handling skills, etc. These skills level up as you play and experience things while playing. For instance by looting a lot you increase your skills in looting, which makes looting go faster and, in time, you might get "better" at looting and find more or better items. Moving around silently increases your covert movement skills. Sprinting increases your endurance. I believe that Tarkov have done RPG for military shooters right, while Breakpoint has done it wrong. Breakpoint has done it in a way that misses the playerbase, and has them inventing their own style and rules to play by. It has a weak design. What I believe Breakpoint could have done, even if they didn't want to go full Tarkov, is to have the gear be similar to Tarkov. For instance, night vision could be gear instead of cosmetic, and only by making that change you could add a lot to the loot pool. You could have different types of flashlights, and then have a nightvision, and then have a few different Gens of nightvision (for simplicity, maybe 3?) Where what changed was the clarity of the nightvision like real life ;p They could do similar things with armor, helmets etc, and it would still retain itself as an RPG military shooter. I believe they could even go full Tarkov (especially with how easy the game is), and make it so you lose your gear when you die. You could have a stash accessible from the Bivouac for instance with gear you have placed in the bivouac ^ Injuries could be permanent untill you get to a bivouac and only stopped for a limited time with bandages. Either way, I believe it is pretty obvious that their RPG systems were a miss, but I wanted to share my opinion on how, and see what the community thought^ So what so you people think? Is breakpoint worth getting now in 2020 + some questions about BP Posted: 12 Feb 2020 05:19 PM PST Hey reddit, I saw that Breakpoint is 60% off at the moment and i've been thinking about picking it up for a while. Are there weapons and armor locked behind loot boxes like in wildlands? If you reply to this please tell me like 5 things you love about the game and 5 you hate so i can kinda see what everyone thinks. I also hear that devs are planing on a full overhaul of the game, is that true or just random speculation? Thank you in advance reddit. [link] [comments]

Why are the war drones on this super advanced tech island so poorly designed? Posted: 12 Feb 2020 10:35 AM PST This isn't even a dig at how they're just sponges that shoot back; it's the actual design of them. Why would they create wheeled/treaded drones that have to contend with all this random wilderness terrain in various biomes? Why not create bipedal/quadrupedal/octopedal drones that could traverse everything more efficiently? Not only that, but it'd be so much cooler and interesting to fight Blade Wolf as an evolution of Spot or a Tachikoma! Hell, Future Soldier already had the Warhound which was awesome! We already know that Breakpoint is Ghost Recon in name only, so why not make it interesting! This post is meant to be lighthearted; don't skewer me! [link] [comments]

Posted: 12 Feb 2020 08:07 PM PST Can I get a group of people to help me with the raid? It's my first time and I have no idea what I'm doing. It would be greatly appreciated. I'm on PS4 [link] [comments]
Quality of life improvement: Give bivouac spawned vehicles a HUD marker Posted: 12 Feb 2020 04:15 AM PST For those who play without a mini-map it's difficult to find your spawned heli as their spawn location by the bivouac can vary in direction, distance and or be hidden from sight. Wildlands had blue smoke which was helpful but not as helpful as a on-screen marker that is visible through terrain. [link] [comments]
