Come on Breakpoint. Just eat it... it's good for you!

After months of hoping that Ubi would fix BP, I gave up hope and went back to Bolivia...

So, I'm just going to go ahead and assume that the immersive mode is going to be a disappointment. There's literally been zero hype for this update. Absolutely terrible communication on Ubi's part.

Playing The Division 2 has really exposed just how bland and generic the gear looks in Breakpoint.

    Posted: 18 Feb 2020 04:25 PM PST

Disclaimer: This is only my opinion. I realize this is somewhat subjective.

I've been on a Division kick recently and I'm having a good time taking in the beautifully designed D.C. world. So I'm chugging along and soon realize that all of the gear looks really good. The vests, backpacks, gloves, holsters. It all looks really good live in game.

This goes even for the gear I don't particularly "like". The gear has personality almost regardless of what I find and equip. It doesn't look like stripped down plastic molds of the real thing. The stuff looks interesting and even personalized, like something an agent would actually be wearing. What an idea...

The gear looks like it was designed by developers that give a crap. That care about having detailed gear that actually looks good. That want the gear to look awesome during actual gameplay and not just in a suspicious graphically enhanced inventory/character menu. Ahem... Looking at you Wildlands and now Breakpoint.

Sure, with Breakpoint, we have more variety and customization freedom. But, if the price of that freedom is low effort attempts at great looking gear than NO thank you. It's frustrating to have all of this gear in Breakpoint and it's lazily made, the very definition of bare bones. Ubisoft needs to find a new team for Ghost Recon. A team that puts a premium on making quality gear that's detailed and interesting.

TL;DR: The Division 2's gear is great looking, detailed and has personality. Breakpoint's gear is boring, stripped down, and has no personality.

All of my teammates ragequitted, so I had to not only clutch this 1v4, but also the game. I won this round, and the next. Unfortunately, the next round was a bit long, so I did not record it.

Is there a current consensus that the current ghost recon games are pretty average or bad?

    Posted: 18 Feb 2020 03:12 PM PST

As you may know the ghost recon franchise is at a very steep low at this point. Some of you might've joined ghost recon during Wildlands, some during the advanced warfighter era, even probally during the series debut. I've been following the ghost recon games for a bit now, I know the entire history of ghost recon and how its developed over time. I'm going to say something some of you may take offense of, but please listen to my points and I will be open to your criticism.

As it stands now, Breakpoint is mechanically bankrupt in comparison to its former games. Breakpoint is NOT a good Ghost Recon game, and is a BAD Open World Shooter as is. If you support Breakpoint, you are part of the problem in why the series has crumbled to where it is now. Please allow me to elaborate.

Ghost Recon's core gameplay is simply, leading a squad of military units (Ghosts) to compete various military centric tasks. An simple enough concept, but the devs dug deeper into the concept. Now typically we see in Wildlands and Breakpoint a super solider mowing down the opposition with ease. Some of you may argue, "Just ramp up an difficulty" But if your game requires me to ramp up a difficultly to even bother using all the gameplay mechanics, when most outposts can be cleared crouch walking shooting anyone who walks past with a silenced pistol or rifle.

Breakpoint doesn't even give you proper sneaking tools apart from crawling and crouching. To see how defunct the sneaking mechanics are, look to MGSV. Apparently MGV does Ghost Recon better than Ghost Recon itself. In MGSV you're a solo badass, but you can still be countered and get your ass kicked. In MGSV you're not even fighting super soilders or ex elite special forces units for the greater part of the game, and they still put up a bigger fight than the apparent "Badass" Wolves. There is no reason or any unique or complex actions the Wolves take in order to hunt and kill an seemingly inferior enemy despite have decades ahead in drone technology.

A simple drone threat can do wonders to make the Homesteaders let you walk right in. Especially if you’re an Elite Wolf.
