Hello fellow Ghosts! 2019 wasn't exactly the best year for Ghost Recon fans. And tbh, it's completely open if 2020 will any better. Right now, I am not that hopeful. The last patch has been delayed to sometime in January, and the Terminator event will be even later. But can anyone say if they won't delay it again and again?

I was hopeful for some time before they delayed the 1.1.0 patch. We had two patches in November and way more communication than usual. It wasn't perfect but it felt like a step in the right direction. But then they delayed the patch and tbh, it feels like a "you didn't really think we would work over Christmas did you" to me. And that's kind of heartbreaking. We are at a point where bigger studios treat their games as products only and there is no passion about it anymore. When I compare that to smaller studios like Battlestate Games who constantly connect with the community and work weekends and always until they feel they did it right... just saying, I had to work at Christmas. I work at a company that offers a product that needs 24/7 support. Does an always online service-game that launched completely broken and is in desperate needs of patches not require such a service as well?

Also, to bring up the Tarkov guys again: They are fighting hard with the english language, yet they do regular streams and communicate with people on reddit themselves. I don't see any valid reason why Ubi Paris couldn't do that as well. Except they probably don't care.

We are getting closer to a state that everybody long enough around here knows too well from Wildlands: Zero communication until one day before a patch drops, with updates coming out every six months or so with hardly any community request fulfilled and underwhelming content. I hope Ubi Paris either proves me wrong here or never gets their hands on a Ghost Recon game again.

I don't want to hate on anyone. I just want a good game. I just want my money and time being worth it. And I guess that is what we all want.

    Thematic weeks

With what we have right now, most of the topics in this subreddit are like "Breakpoint sucks", "I want weapon x", "I want equipment y" and "I want flip flops" - it got to a point now where I more and more read that people don't have a good time around the sub anymore and honestly, I can count me as one of these. Which sucks, because since I joined the subreddit and the mod team I spent a disgusting amount of time here to make things better and more enjoyable for you guys.

I mean, yeah, having a great game with actual discussable content would already help a lot, but we might get there. And despite all the hate it gets, Breakpoint already has a lot of great stuff to offer. Which most of the time gets ignored because it is not what some people wanted it to be. We want to start some kind of experiment this year (or months, if it fails hard): Thematic weeks. At the beginning of a week we will sticky a topic that states that weeks theme. For example: "Ghost War guides and tactics". During that week, we want you to make new topics about that theme and discuss the hell out of it. And when you do so, comment a link to your topic into the megathread. At the end of the week we will have a community vote on which topic and comment were the best for that week. At the end of the month the best four comments and topics again get in a vote to determine the winner for the month who will get some kind of reward. It'll be some reddit reward probably (except if we could get Ubi on board with some cool ingame rewards, who knows, dear CMs?) but tbh, we want to encourage healthy and fun discussion, and not create a "who's da best"-competition. We'll start that next week, I hope you guys like it and take part in it.

    Raid megathreads

Some people asks if we could have weekly raid megathreads. We have one raid right now with rotating objectives and chests. I feel like it'll be enough to have a note in the weekly theme topic about the chests, at least until we have more raids. What are your thoughts about that?

Btw, this weeks chests as provided by /u/mattackmattack - thanks!

That's it for now. Let's hope for a great 2020, let's hope Ubi really kicks ass with Breakpoint and does a better job than Bethesda or Bioware did so far with their broken service-games. I'd really love to see Breakpoint shine.

    Ghost Lead out.

Tl;dr - Pffff don't be lazy and read the damn post. Your loving mean mod.

The perfect loot system: Escape from Tarkov

    Posted: 01 Jan 2020 02:12 PM PST

I love loot in games, it is a cool way to keep me busy. I loved to install new weapon or gear mods in Fallout games and hunt for my new stuff. I love running around in Tarkov and find new stuff. When developers know how to connect world exploration to loot and lore it becomes the perfect symbiosis: You find cool locations and you get cool stuff for exploring it. World explorationa is always worth your time.

That however couldn't be further away from the truth in Breakpoint. There are uncountable locations that are not worth exploring because they all look the same, don't have any cool lore to them and all have the same one chest and one intel icon. Boring. That should definitely be changed down the line as well.

HOWEVER, loot itself has to change drastically.

We play a Ghost Recon game, for real guys, I don't need green, purple, yellow or whatever colored loot. I need loot with a purpose. All the weapons in Breakpoint are modular, you can see that when the gunsmith breaks them apart. Make this your loot feature: Like in Tarkov, you find weapon parts all around the world. Sometimes single weapon parts, sometimes some parts connected. Some parts could be exclusive to variant drops. Missions could reward you with full weapons as well as enemies. Enemies could drop weapons with damaged parts.

Because that is the second part of my suggestion: Include weapon and weapon part degredation. If you use a weapon its part will wear down. You can of course repair the parts (which could be connected to skills, crafting, repair kits etc.) or replace them with better parts or more pristine parts. That would make loot always be a part of Breakpoints gameplay even without Tarkovs "die and lose everything".

And for gear, just make gear as strong as it looks: A helmet is stronger than a hat. We have transmog for the visuals.

When Walker pulls Nomad out of danger in the Middle East, it's February 22, 2022 (as far as I remember). Might this be a hint for a future GhostRecon title, which might take Nomad to the Middle East to team up with Walker in 2022 (which would be prior to Breakpoint)? I really like the idea of that. What do you guys think?

Is there a way to adjust camera distance on PS4?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2020 07:36 PM PST

Hey there, new player - I haven't played a ghost recon since the PS2 days. Got this on sale and it seems the camera to your character is WAY to close. I combed the settings but didn't find anything to move the camera back a tad - am I missing something?

Anyone else having an issue in Breakpoint with none of the guns sounding off? I'll hear it hit the environment or hear the hitmarkers, but I'll never hear the gunshots, including from AI gunfire.

Anyway to repopulate bases in Ghost Recon Breakpoint?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2020 03:07 PM PST

I like clearing bases, but how do you fill them back with enemies after you clear it? Is there a set time they come back or is there something I have to do?

Is there a way to prevent my team from popping out of the car and shooting when we're engaged?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2020 05:36 PM PST

Seems like this is the fastest way for things to get out of control and I really can't stand it. I like to play as stealthy as possible and what I'd really like to happen when we start taking fire is that my team just hangs out INSIDE THE VEHICLE until I give the order to shoot back. There have been more than a few times where an enemy on foot ID'd us and took 1-2 pot-shots and then suddenly all three members of my team pop out of the windows to shoot back. Sure this means the guy who shot at us is dead, but now we have broken windows and every enemy who see's the vehicle reacts almost instantly (I'm guessing this is by design since a vehicle with all the windows broken out is pretty suspicious), forcing me to first lose / kill any enemies in the area and and ditch the car for one without damage.

All of this might be fine if it wasn't for the fact that 9/10 of the times we could have gotten away just fine without my team causing all of this headache. Don't get me wrong, I like getting into a firefight, but the idea is to be a covert operator who arouses as little attention as possible, not a video game hero that runs rampant through Bolivia with guns blazing.

So anyway, is there a way to force my team NOT to instantly break windows and attack while we're driving, or is that just something I'm going to have to deal with?

    Thanks

Hey all! I’m new and has some questions.

    Posted: 01 Jan 2020 09:14 AM PST

So I got the free trial to wild lands and it was super fun I played 5 hours so I'm not an expert or even close but, is breakpoint worth buying? It's a 67% sale right now and it seems like a better version of wildlands, basically will I have fun? Is it similar gameplay wise to wildlands where I won't have to learn how to play again? What's in the gold and ultimate edition? Should I just buy wildlands instead? Thanks anyways!

A thought for a 'quick fix' for daily routines in Breakpoint.

    Posted: 01 Jan 2020 05:57 AM PST

I've seen the suggestion to add daily cycles to the NPCs a few times. I think that would really help make the gameplay more diverse and immersive but take a long time to implement.

However, one 'quick fix' would be to add ambient civilians to the passenger slot of cars. It would help explain how civilians are working in remote research posts that have no living quarters. Furthermore, it would be a challenge when the player wants to take control of a car on the road they can't just shoot through the windows blindly.

    Thoughts?

Is anyone having the game crash on them in the middle of playing? Any suggestions until ubisoft responds?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2020 03:01 PM PST

I've done everything suggested here in their follow up support request. Nothing is running except windows services and whatever the game needs to run. Windows is up to date. This is the only game that does it. and I usually play arma 3. Here are my specs.

    Ryzen 9 3900x @ 3.79ghz 16 GB Gskill cl18 sapphire pulse 5700xt on radeon 19.12.3

    Here is what they suggested.

    Hello Idrathercutmydickoff,

In order to fully troubleshoot the problem that you are having, please try the steps below:

    1. Disabling your background applications:

Go to the Start menu on your Desktop. Press the Windows key and the letter R at the same time. Type in MSCONFIG and press Enter. Go to the Startup tab, and click Open Task Manager. For each Startup item in the Task Manager, select the item then click Disable. Close Task Manager. On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, click OK, then restart the computer.

Note: For Windows 7, you can simply click Disable All on the Startup tab within the System Configuration window.

    1. Clearing your temporary files:

Go to the Start menu on your Desktop. Press the Windows key and the letter R at the same time. Type in %TEMP% and press Enter. Select All (Edit > Select All or Ctrl+A). Click the Delete key.

Note: If you are using Windows 7, you will need to press Ctrl + A together to highlight the files. Once the files are highlighted, you will need to press the Delete key.

    1. Make sure the drivers for your video card, sound card, motherboard and processor are up-to-date. Running 2 cards in SLI or running 2 screens can also cause issues. Deactivate SLI or unplug any additional screens you may be using. If you are overclocking, try running at the stock clock settings.

    2. Make sure that any antivirus or firewall software on your system is disabled.

    3. Install Windows Updates: Click on the Windows Start button and go to All Programs --> Windows Update. In the left pane, click "Check for updates" and if any are found choose "Install updates." http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/install-windows-updates

Please upload your MSINFO file which can be found by performing the following steps. This file will allow me to take a better look at your system and may help to diagnose the problem.

    1. Press the Windows key and the "R" key at the same time.
    2. In the Open box, type 'msinfo32' (without the quotes) and click OK.
    3. When the program comes up, open the Software Environment section on the left side and select Windows Error Reporting.
    4. Make sure that the Windows Error Reporting has also completely loaded prior to saving.
    5. At the top, click on File and click on Save.
    6. Click the 'save' button to save the file as an .nfo file to your Desktop.
    7. Click the following link: https://support.ubi.com/en-US/Cases
    8. Enter your Ubisoft Account credentials and click Login.
    9. Click on the question that you wish to update.
    10. Click "Attach documents"
    11. Find the ".nfo" file to attach the MSINFO32 file and click Open.
    12. Click "SUBMIT ATTACHMENTS" to complete the incident.

If you receive an error stating that the file is too large, you will need to compress it using either WinZip or WinRAR. Once received, we will examine your system information and get back to you as soon as we can with a possible solution to your problem.

    Best Regards Jason Ubisoft Support
