So I read that the CEO of Ubisoft Yves Guillemot said during the conference call a few days ago that the reason Breakpoint flopped was due to "not enough time between releases" and "not being different enough from the previous title in the franchise"

Do you guys even pay attention to what players are saying about your games? Those two things your CEO listed as being the 2 big reasons why Breakpoint flopped is literally the furthest thing from the truth. Us Ghost Recon fans were ECSTATIC to get a new Ghost Recon title so soon after Wildlands. We were in love with what we saw during the initial May 9th reveal. Breakpoint flopping had absolutely NOTHING to do with that.

Breakpoint flopped for a couple reasons. One obvious one being that you released the game broken and unfinished when it clearly needed at least another 6 months dev time at the very minimum. Another reason being that you implemented literally every single predatory video game mechanic that every player hates (MtX, always online, battle pass, etc).

Finally, the last reason it flopped was because you guys veered too FAR away from the previous Ghost Recon titles. The problem wasn't that they weren't different enough, the problem was that they were TOO different. No one plays Ghost Recon when they want to scratch that looter shooter itch. Ghost Recon and looter shooter go together about as well as water and cereal. We didn't ask for any of this. We didn't want any of this. All you had to do was give us a Wildlands 2.0. Keep everything that's currently in Breakpoint and remove tiered loot, battle pass, always online, extremely egregious MtX, etc. Make every camo and cosmetic option available at the start of the game, and make us only have to find weapons out in the open world instead of weapons and cosmetics.

Instead of spending so much time on the tiered loot aspect and all the balancing that goes with it, you should have spent more time polishing up the overall game and most importantly, improving the enemy AI. The basis of this game was supposed to be to be hunted by trained soldiers and former ghosts now Wolves. Not once have I felt like that.

I really hope this new reimagined/revamped Breakpoint checks all of these boxes. Because my god it has so much f****** potential.

If you're considering buying Breakpoint, WAIT. Please.

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 09:15 AM PDT

I replied to someone else's post a few moments ago, but wanted to share my thoughts in their own thread.

No. Wait. Seriously, my biggest regret was buying this game at launch. It was fun for a little bit, but then I realized that what I loved about Wildlands is completely absent in Breakpoint in its current state.

I can't turn my character into the operator he was in WL because Multicam is locked until December and all the AOR (desert/woodland MARPAT) camouflage is locked behind a paywall. Most cosmetic items that took years to implement, (looking at you Crye Precision Top w/ Rolled Sleeves) are either exclusively available through micro-transactions or missing entirely. There are no AI teammates at the moment, the hostile AI is completely devoid of tactical prowess, the current Battle Point grind is being overhauled, and the overall state of the game remains "unfinished" at best. NVGs are so poorly implemented that I don't ever do night operations because it's so frustrating to use them. Hell, I haven't been able to use my drone for weeks and Ubisoft itself refuses to give hard timelines for crucial fixes because I genuinely believe they know they won't be able to keep them.

I spent 120 USD on this product, enough to buy TWO separate games. I wish I had spent that money on Destiny's new expansion, Modern Warfare, Outer Worlds, etc. DO NOT buy this game right now. Coming from a veteran of the franchise, just wait until they fix the game's biggest technical issues, AI teammates are present, and they've addressed the rampant, justified criticisms. Please, I urge you to wait. You'll thank me later.

It would be nice if difficulty and visibility (heat maps, enemy markers, minimap, specified hud elements) were set by the host. Multiplayer is not as fun when Rambo on easy with guided mode, heat maps, lowered detection rates etc leeroy jenkins their way into objectives.

Is it possible for the devs to push "silent" updates?

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 12:45 PM PDT

I'm wondering if some config were changed on the fly... because yesterday I played the game again and some things on the technical side didn't look and feel as bad as before.. maybe I'm just tripping. But curious if anyone noticed some differences on PS4/pro

    • lighting seemed to work better (looking from outside through doors didn't look as pitch black)
    • ai on advanced isn't aware of your location as much and I got more mortars
    • I think there is a little less bloom and blur when. Using scopes on PS4 pro

They seriously need to fix the bending IR laser that points directly at the crosshair regardless of where my weapon is actually pointing

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 03:05 AM PDT

It just looks so stupid aiming around cover seeing your laser bend a few degrees to stay in line with the crosshairs. Just keep the laser straight! It will line up when your aim lines up.

Is there a huge difference between Regular difficulty and Extreme like Yves says there is?

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 05:25 PM PDT

How much smarter is the AI on extreme compared to regular? Is the injury system more active in extreme? Do enemies throw grenades or flashbangs or anything? Do the enemies detect you faster? From what I've played.. it just seems like your health drops a lot quicker and that's it..

    Replaying Wildlands...

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 05:16 PM PDT

The voice acting was a lot better. A whole lot better. I missed Nomad's voice more than anything. It may have been cheesy, but even some of the villains had some memorable dialogue. Even hearing El Sueno justify or even explain himself was fascinating.

Now we have... a knockoff punisher.
