Don't know how the AI in Ghost Recon could improve? Play Sniper Elite 4. Posted: 10 Sep 2021 07:53 AM PDT First of all, Sniper Elite 4 isn't an open world game, so developing some of these mechanics don't present the same challenges as developing the same mechanics on an open world game. It's good to take this into consideration before calling out the devs for being 'lazy'. Having said that, here are some of the behaviors in Sniper Elite 4 I wish were in Ghost Recon WL/BP. Keep in mind SE4 is still not a milsim, it's mechanics are pretty much "gamey", with silenced BULLETS (you can have temporary silencer on an unsilenced weapon using them), too strong bullet drop (come on, a Gewehr 43 can't have your bullet drop so much after only 200m), enemies that don't have peripheral vision and so on. Enemies miss their dead friends This is probably the most glaring difference. In SE4 if an enemy is patrolling and you take him down without anyone noticing, eventually other enemies will say 'hey, we're missing one here' and start looking for their friend. They'll get two more soldiers to look in the place he should be patrolling and then extend the search and they do it for a very long time, saying lines that makes it obvious they know something is not right. Mechanically it changes the dynamics of taking enemies out stealthily because if you can't get to the body to remove it, it's better to not mess with that enemy. Also be ready to change patrol routes because you'll have two, maybe three other soldiers looking the entire area after you take a patrolling enemy out. Enemies talk to each other Using tactics like throwing a rock or whistling to draw the attention of an enemy sometimes draws unwanted attention. Even if only one enemy hears the distraction, they'll clearly shout 'hey, something's wrong here' and their friends will hear and look in his direction. I've found it's best to distract enemies AWAY from some place, because trying to attract an enemy for a kill will usually draw more attention than you want. When enemies get out of alert phase, they still know something's up If enemies found a body or even see you but you manage to escape and their alert status eventually get back to normal, if you hear they chatting they'll still talk about how you might still be there, to pay attention, they'll recheck bodies they already found (acknowledging there are actual dead bodies on their area) and so on. Mechanically it doesn't change much but the immersion is so much greater with that little detail. Enemies don't just learn where you are at all times If you're seen, SE has this mechanic where if you leave enemy's view it will leave a ghost of you behind, indicating where the enemies last saw you. They only know of this location, so you can still flank them or escape an encounter if you're stealthy. I haven't played Splinter Cell in a while but... didn't the latest games had this mechanic too? Enemies can guess where shots came from If you shoot without something muffling the sound of your weapon, they can guess the general direction the bullet came from. It's not exact and they won't patrol the area unless they're sure (the game calls this mechanic 'triangulation'). Also if you happen to shoot while some other loud sound is being made (a plane is passing by) then they won't be able to guess were the shot came from. There are many more small details in this game that I think would benefit GR greatly. Again, it's tricky to implement some of this stuff in an open world game, but they all would make GR a much more challenging and rewarding game IMO. [link] [comments] | ||

Ubisoft, include the unique ponytail with Fury's figurine B appearance in the Motherland update Posted: 10 Sep 2021 08:23 AM PDT I saw a comment explaining that the reason they haven't added is because the ponytail apparently clips into the backpack and they probably don't want to spend precious time and money on fixing that with every single backpack or clothing. The thing is, they already have unique equipment on the other figurines that are locked within those, so why not add the ponytail as well to be locked with just the Fury outfit? I guarantee nobody gives a damn about some small clipping issue when a bunch of the vests were shipped floating 5 meters above the chest and I'm pretty sure some of them still have the same issue.
