State of the game from a community member Posted: 04 Aug 2020 05:57 PM PDT Ubisoft recently published their own state of the game article... Here's my state of the game analysis... Ghost Recon Breakpoint was unfortunately shipped too early, lacking a key franchise defining feature, the AI team mates, introducing a tiered loot system that had no business being in a GR game, and with a single player campaign that was severely lacking in all areas. While this is all very unfortunate, the silver lining is that the market largely rejected the game at launch which will hopefully ensure something like this doesn't happen again in the future... assuming the franchise survives to have a future. The irony of the game's name is lost on no one. To the studio's credit, and likely due to the enormous financial issues and reputation backlash, they have invested in turning these issues around. Releases have been far and few between, but they have been impactful. The first major step in the right direction was the introduction of the Ghost Experience which hid the tiered loot mechanics and offered a much better set of options for players to fine-tune their own difficulty settings. Then in a more recent release, the AI team mates were added, which is a franchise defining feature. Fans of the franchise know that Tier-1 special forces are effective through special training, tactics, weapons, equipment, and especially team work, so the addition of a team, was highly anticipated. Together with the Ghost Experience, the addition of the AI team mates brought the game play and mechanics closer to the experience that Wildlands offered. The addition of the Resistance live event also solved a couple of other problems with the game. First, it provided a much more dynamic action-filled world in which to operate, and secondly, it removed one of the most hated mechanics in the game - the insanely frequent Azreal and helicopter flyovers. It also provided some much needed additional mission content, but barely scratched the surface of what's ultimately required. Most players are cautiously optimistic that this live event might be extended and become the new norm for the game, especially since it comes with an option to enable/disable it. With these recent changes, I would encourage anyone who put off buying Breakpoint or abandoned it early due to the tiered loot or a lack of an AI team to now consider buying into the game and jumping back in. In fact, I recently recommended my own friends get Breakpoint so we can play co-op now that the game has matured to the point where it should have been when it shipped. There are a number of outstanding issues and glitches with the game related to waypoint markers, various cosmetics like the belt, shemagh, forest pants, and issues with going prone and prone movement as well as lag creating disappearing/teleporting enemies, extremely poor lighting between light/dark areas, and enemies that have x-ray vision through foilage. However all of that pales in comparison to the biggest outstanding issue: A lack of compelling mission content... or more simply put: a reason to play. In effect, we now have a running automobile. The problem is, we have no where to drive it.
With a lack of compelling Tier-1 operator style mission content, many veteran players have already gone back to Wildlands or moved on to other games. New players will quickly be in the same situation. Countless proposals have been tendered by the community for how to solve this, ranging from a complete campaign do-over, to restoring the Faction story lines and Battle Pass, to an Episode 3 with more of a Tier-1 military focus, to opening up Golem to solo exploration, to player mission building tools. Any and all of those are great suggestions but something needs to be done on this front for this game to have any life past it's first birthday. Sincerely, -Chris [link] [comments]
Add a VOIP system with the possibility of radio comms voice filter. Posted: 04 Aug 2020 03:53 PM PDT Idk if this has been brought up before I just joined this subreddit, but I hope ubi adds a feature which allows for teammates who want to speak in game chat to have a VOIP system in place with the possibily to add a radio comms voice filter kinda like Modern Warfare has. Also if there is even the possibility to include radios which could be powered by the batteries you can pick up from downed drones to talk to teammates at a greater distance. DayZ did a fairly good job about that and for the people who play exclusively with high skill teammates and proper comms, who would desperately want this game to take a step further into immersion this would be a very cool inclusion. Thanks for hearing me out. [link] [comments]

Future soldier and bodark coming i hope Posted: 04 Aug 2020 05:08 PM PDT With karel sekulic being former bodark, and telling nomad their paths would cross again, im pretty convinced hunter team, or future soldier content is coming. It might even be kozak that saves nomads ass this time. Kozaks ties to skell, and Karels ties to bodark seems awfully convenient. [link] [comments]

Movement: Aesthetics, realism, and what Ubi should do. Posted: 04 Aug 2020 08:16 AM PDT Hey everyone, I'm an avid player of this game, and someone who was really reinvigorated after AI teammates were added. I love a lot of things about the mechanics, but one thing that constantly drives me up a wall is the limited movement abilities, and a lack of both aesthetics and realism. There isn't a ton of good footage out there of special-ops teams working through numerous environments in numerous situations, so, ok, then we have to accept that there will likely not be perfect realism. What does that leave us with? Well, consultations or directly cribbing from film/tv that had the budget to hire a bunch of former spec-ops guys to teach their cast. Two good options come to mind "SEAL Team" on CBS, and Zero Dark Thirty, the film from Katherine Biggelow. The crew on these have said they had former special ops guys on set at times to train their actors. I've recently been binging SEAL Team, and boy oh boy is the movement aesthetic wonderful to watch. This game would be so much better if they modeled chars movement after that. One thing that really sticks out is the speed that they can move at while aiming with down the sign, or slightly over it with the rifle tilted. They often clear tight areas this way, to keep a wider field of view, but also to move with the rifle shouldered. The shouldered/aiming movement when using not sniper rifles in this game is so absurdly slow. Even their DMR guy looks over the sight to quickly move through buildings. Their coordinated cover and move movement is great. We need an option to have a guy stand and watch our backs as we move. We need an option to have guys enter building and walk along the wall to limit an angle of attack. I highly suggest going on YouTube to watch a few clips from this show to see what I mean. I have a feeling you will instantly fall in love with their movement, and want it implemented in BP. The ending raid on the UBL compound in Zero Dark Thirty is a great example of a single team splitting up to simultaneously breach and clear a larger compound. That one is great, but filmed at night, so a tad harder to get a great view of every thing. TL;DR - something just feels so close, yet still off about the movement in this game. The Deva should study and copy the movement from the CBS show "SEAL Team". Cheers. [link] [comments]
