I really love the way the island looks but I hate that we have to have 3 other people to even explore the island. Hopefully we can when the ai teammates are added.

Ubisoft's level designers really need more lessons in Architectural design

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 04:52 AM PST

I'll preface this by saying I think the work done to make their games look incredible is not what is the issue here, the issue is with how their level designers layout the interiors of buildings to the point they are confusing to navigate, or make no practical sense.

For the past few years its become more and more apparent in Assassin's Creed, Watchdogs, The Division and now Ghost Recon that Ubi's level designers know how to make buildings 'look' cool and interesting but in terms of actual practical use - I find so many of their buildings make NO sense from a layout perspective, which also contributes for a somewhat frustrating user experience.

Just some of the issues I always see when playing their games:

    • Interior rooms that can only be accessed - from the outside - Most prevalent in Assassin's Creed but has snuck its way into the likes of Wildlands and Breakpoint. You'll come across a building that has some kind of collectible or something in a certain room, only to find the only way to access this room - which is part of the interior - is via ladder or staircase from the outside. The room itself has one window and no doors, I feel sorry for the poor fucker who sleeps in this room and has to go outside and climb the ladder in a rainstorm just to go to bed.

    • Confusing layouts that have you doubling back on yourself - Now I'll caveat this by saying I can somewhat understand bunkers and military facilities having a maze-like layout, but there are more and more buildings especially in Breakpoint where the level designer seems to have confused a functional office building with a ninja castle. Dead ends, rooms that seem to be accessed only via some convoluted route that requires you going up and down several flights of stairs and doubling back on yourself, you know - the kind of things the ninjas used to do to confuse invading enemies. How does any office work get done in such a labyrinth?

    • Lavish furniture and decor in a semi-outside room - Breakpoint is particularly bad for this, the next time you head to one of the really nice, modern mansions, look for the rooms with 3 walls and no roof, doors or windows. Beautiful laminate floors, leather upholstery, high-end furniture - which is all going to get totally ruined when it rains. Which it does A LOT on Auroa. Some of these buildings have half their rooms completely exposed to the elements, with no means of shuttering up for bad weather.

I don't want this to come off as me saying Ubisoft's level designers don't know how to do their job, they've obviously tried to make their locations look cool and provide something interest from a gameplay perspective. But I also think they need to always take a step back and think "how would it feel for me to live here".

If you like Wildlands and you like to read....

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 09:47 AM PST

You owe it to yourself to read The Power of the Dog and The Cartel by Don Winslow. I think I read somewhere that he was a consultant for the story for Wildlands, but there are a lot of similarities. And it makes shooting the cartel members so much more satisfying.

Getting frustrated with operation silent spade...

If I quit/leave mission and go to another mission on map will it revert back to the check point I was at when I go back to it or do I have to start over?

I know there's a lot of work still to be done on the main game, but I hope Ubisoft doesn't forget about photo mode.

    Hi

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 08:09 PM PST

I wonder if Ubisoft was confused about AI teammates because the community complained about them in Wildlands, eventually asking for them to be removed.

    Breakpoint story question.

Like how the hell so many ghost died on arrival in Aurora and it seems like America or the ones in charge of the operation does not give a shit?I just started playing and i was wondering if somewhere in the story reinforcements will arive? Or its just like one Ghost resolving all the Aurora issues? Is there any Ghost on the island working at this problem with Nomad? Like where is Fury,Vasily,Fixit? Or are they just playable characters and thats all? You all alone without ant support ? This don t make sense to me

    Bugs

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 05:14 PM PST

Hello, everyone. I've been exploring Auroa for quite a while now, and I'm listing some or the bugs, glitches I've experienced. Maybe there's a similar post, sorry. Some items of the lost might be a little too exaggerated, but I guess it may be worth checking them up • First of all, screams after a head shot. • CQC kills animation require a very. specific place to be shown correctly. If the ground is uneven, the character could be stabbing the ground. The animation killer/killed doesn't always match places. • Grabbing an enemy that's about to get off a car, will cause you to glitch. It's a hard way to explain what happens, but it's a hard to get out of it glitch. • If you hit an object or part of the environment (like a rock) hard enough with any terrestrial vehicle, it gets stuck like if something was physically preventing it to move. But it's literally just touching the object. • Sometimes, after changing a preset, and going back to the game, the weapons don't change. Instead, you get all the weapons holstered and the character has just the hands in position of holding a weapon, but unable to shoot or aim. • Maybe with this one I'm going too hard. When you're using the parachute, and land over solid concrete, steel or any roof, you see dust going off the ground. Just like if you've just landed on the ground. • This isn't a bug, maybe it's just my Xbox, but I can't make any kill longer than 650m away, because the console isn't loading any far. Maybe they can optimize it? • Most of the times I can't use NV. It just toggles between regular and thermal. Need to use the drone, activate NV and going back to the character. • This isn't a bug, but a petition. I feel like the female character (Fury) should have a more feminine body shape (thicc). I have played a lot of games that have a nice body or let's you customize it (Fallout 3, 4, 76, Skyrim, Fortnite, PUBG, Gears of War). I feel they should do something about it

Remind me why we can't do Recon from Boats again?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 06:56 AM PST

This game is called Ghost Recon, right? Even GTA V allows the player to do Recon from the water (with a rifle scope). You should be able to use your drone, rifle, and binoculars from the water. Puzzling game design decision...
