First game I saw this animation in was "Call of Duty: Ghosts" and this move still looks sick. Can't say anything about its practical value though.

Motherland is Washington DC in cold War military code...in real life. In the old days there were alert signs and codes to send troops by phone... it was real.

Everyone who has suffered from this glitch where your gun loses all accuracy for a couple of seconds, sending bullets everywhere but your point of aim. Please stand up, this needs to be adressed.

Random FUN FACT you MAYBE didn't know about Nomad (Ghost Recon: Wildlands)

    Posted: 11 Jul 2021 02:29 PM PDT

I'm sure by now that it's public knowledge (certainly for those that play a wide range of Ubisoft's games, will likely already know this), but in case you weren't already aware.. The voice actor who voices Nomad in Ghost Recon Wildlands, is the same voice actor that voices Manny Ortega in The Division 2.

The voice actor goes by the name of Joseph May. His IMDB profile can be found here:

Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 (2007) retrospective - Casual tactical shooter at its best

I have played the original Ghost Recon, Ghost Recon 2, Advanced Warfighter (Both Xbox 360 and PC). I have already played the PC version of Advanced Warfighter 2 before, but this is my first time playing the main Ubisoft-developed version of the game.

I feel what I have already said about the first game still applies here, too because Advanced Warfighter 2 is a marginal upgrade over the first game. It is a decent tactical shooter for people who don't like the genre. Although the improvements are minor, they affect the gameplay in a substantial way that makes the experience far more enjoyable than the first game.

Gunplay is tighter and snappier. AI is smarter for both your team and the enemies. The visual received a slight upgrade. Additions like a medic under the player's command are great. The turret sections are actually enjoyable this time, but the game would still be better without them. You can control someone else's crosscom camera and see things from their perspective more for better tactical judgment.

However, the biggest improvement is the level design. I cannot express how linear and restrictive the levels were in the first Advanced Warfighter. There seemed to be only one path to go about your goal, the alternate routes were rare, and the enemy spawns were so abrupt that it often resulted in a cheap death. Advanced Warfighter 2's level design is wider and nonlinear in this regard. I found myself experimenting with my playstyle a lot more this time around because of the levels allowed for it. There are far more shortcuts and alternative paths. The levels are open and objectives are sparsely placed that I had to actually plan out how to get to them.

Another improvement is a mission variety. The game is still not a sandbox shooter. When level designers want you to fight, then you have to fight, and there is no other choice. When level designers want you to snipe, you have to snipe, or else you will die. Sacrificing the combat sandbox, Advanced Warfighter 2 throws at the player so many various scenarios to go through, and unlike Advanced Warfighter 1, they are not all explosions. There are many missions in which the player has to sneak through the enemies in the nighttime, in which the game encourages stealth. The campaign balances these sections well. After the intense firefight, you have a calmer nighttime level, and then the sun rises and the level ends with a bombastic action set-piece. It is well-paced that the game does not become repetitive.

In turn, the game is easy. Too easy. I played it in the medium difficulty, and maybe because I finished Ghost Recon 2 before playing this one, but I rarely died in this game. I can count the times my teammates fell with one hand. The punishment for mistakes, like exposing yourself out of cover, is too loose and forgiving. I recommend setting to the highest difficulty because anything less than that is too easy to be engaging. And this extends to the tactical depth. I am disheartened that I still cannot control individual teammates, rather only able to control the entire team with the lackluster command options.

I disliked how the story shoves the cliched "nuke attack on the US" high stake twist into this story. Pulling this in Call of Duty? Sure. In Ghost Recon? It is better for mission goals to resemble more realistic objectives rather than turning Ghosts into action heroes.

If you are too intimidated or do not enjoy a tactical shooter, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 is a great starting point. I do prefer the original's grounded, methodical approach over any of the sequels, and Advanced Warfighter 2 is still closer to a modern-day version of Brothers in Arms and Republic Commando than a Ghost Recon game, but it is a great fun if you play it with the right mindset. It is hard to find a casual tactical shooter that is better than Advanced Warfighter 2.
