    Ghost Recon Breakpoint T.U 1.1

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 04:28 PM PST

After the rather disappointing update from the devs about Ghost Recon Breakpoint (GRB) T.U 1.1, I must say I'm a little pissed. They promised us sweeping changes to make the game fun by January, and now they are slowly changing the tune. I'm starting to doubt wether this game will ever get fully fixed, and wether the changes they do make will be worth a damn.

We can all agree GRB fell very short of its full potential, so I made a list of the most annoying mistakes, flaws, and omissions in the game - especially compared against Ghost Recon Wildlands (GRW), which I played for over 54 days of real time total. I think if even 50% of flaws these got fixed, it would improve the game exponentially.

    [1] ----------------------------- UI ISSUES

    MENU UI

The overall menu design is sloppy. It's ugly, obscures important info, and is annoying to use. I believe they nailed this quite well in GRW with the grid/tabs - It made it much easier and quicker to find what I was looking for. This new UI and scrolling thing? I don't know. I would like to see a better menu UI in the future, but this isn't immersion breaking at least. The 'Objectives Board' also suffers heavily from this problem.

    SCREEN UI SIZE

The in-game screen UI is mostly ok, but some elements need to be smaller so they aren't as distracting. You can't really play without an ammo counter and stuff, but it still gets in the way sometimes.

    COMPASS

I mean Ubisoft got this right in GRW (eventually), so what happened?

    MAP SCREEN UI

The map is a pain to use, and once again, GRW was better in my opinion. I honestly expected something more tactical/futuristic, but here we are. At the very least, let us zoom in/out a bit more.

    GUNSMITH UI

The fact that the weapon selection screen/blueprints are organized by name or rarity and not weapon type is also egregious. The GRW weapon selection screen was just so much better than this current nonsense. Also, I think that combining the weaponsmith's attachment and paint screen into one would be a better choice.

    [2] ----------------------------- LOADOUTS & WEAPONS

    DISPOSABLE WEAPONS

To make things worse, the true stars of Ghost Recon (the guns) now feel like disposable paper. Why would I take the time to customize and paint a weapon I'm only gonna use for an hour before I dismantle it for parts. Besides, it's usually just 1 of 100 AK47s taking up space in my inventory. There is no sense of permanency, and it destroys the feeling of having a whole armory of customized/personalized weapons at your disposal.

    PRESETS

To further compound this problem, the game lets you create presets (3 for each class) which ultimately mean nothing when your character eventually levels up. You'd have to equip higher level gear/weapons EVERY SINGLE TIME - so this negates the use of the quick switch preset almost entirely.

    ATTACHMENTS

Let players use any scope or grip (etc) we chose. This restriction Ubisoft placed is stupid, and only seeks to justify their greedy microtransaction strategy. In real life, whatever fits on the picatinny rails - stays there. GRW understood this, so why the sudden regression?

    FLASHLIGHT

The fact there is no flashlight attachment (helmet or weapon) is beyond stupid, given that the enemy routinely makes use of this equipment. The digital assets are clearly in the game, but at some point in the design process, the choice was made to not make it available to the player. Fire that person.

    FLARES

These are not only useful for drawing and diverting attention, but also look cool/tactical. This was in GRW, but somehow got cut for GRB. Starting to see a pattern here?

    EQUIPPING ONE WEAPON

The fact you can't un-equip the second weapon slot (when the game clearly has the capacity to do so) is a sin.

    MISSING WEAPONS

Some of my favorite weapons from GRW have yet to make an appearance, and I'm just hoping Ubisoft don't plan to sell us these 'old' digital assets as a 'new' DLC pack.

    WEAPON UPGRADES

Upgrading weapons in this game is also stupid. Like what do you use the materials you dismantle for? To build better parts? There is no evident change. To build better attachments? You collect these anyways. It just doesn't make sense. And the worst part - there's no real difference between a basic MKI and an upgraded MKIII weapon - both still kill with lethal efficiency.

    CQC

I haven't really seen a difference with the executions. I'm likely wrong on this, so I need others to chime in here.

    [3] ----------------------------- GEAR

    GEAR SCORE

I still cannot make a logical argument for having gear/weapon scores in this game. The whole concept just seems wildly insane to me, and out of place in a tactical shooter. "This Blue M4A1 performs better than this Green M4A1" will kill the immersion in any game quickly. The whole 'gear-override' feature should have been the moment the dev team realized this concept was foolish..

    TACTICAL HAND SIGNS

How cool was it in GRW to be silently sneaking around with your team in the jungle and suddenly the point man does the 'Hold' gesture (flawlessly and without changing stance). Now, in breakpoint it's just a set of stupid fixed animations that feel so plastic.

    BACKPACKS

The current options are mostly boring, and really have no character - except for the signature gear pieces (Fury's pack etc). We need things to accent the gear and increase immersion. The larger military/hiking rucksacks would be nice, and tie in nicely with the Bivouac mechanic.

    BATTLE BELT

The setup of your battle/war belt is based on your chest rig, and sometimes pants (Fixits pants). This is stupid. If the game is able to recognize and make changes - then let us make the choice. Also the concept of 2 drop down holsters (like some pants have) needs to be a choice. This just improves immersion and personalization.

    MILITARY STYLE CUSTOMIZATION OPTIONS

Compared to GRW, the lack of military style tops/shirts especially in this game is appalling. Most of the tops are civilian or tactical variants. Where are the BDUs, Crye Combat gear, etc? Honestly, there's too much inspiration in real life for the game to feel this empty. Just play COD: Modern Warfare and marvel at operator customization. I really care about this, because I like to use my real life gear in-game. I build unique characters (with backstories, skills and outfits) and play true to a set theme. Sure the models look more detailed, but the options are lacking.

P.S: Remember when this game launched and Ubisoft had the audacity to lock most gear pieces (even MULTICAM) behind a paywall. Multicam is a human right, and I will never forget…

    PATCHES

We all know most of the patches in-game suck. Give us country flags - mostly rectangles (few shields), with subdued variants. Again, GRW was superior in this regard.

    NVG

They work as intended - thank Ares. But we need more options. GRW had monocular variants, and head mounted variants. Ubisoft already has the digital assets for these items so I am utterly confused as to why they don't just include them in the game.

    [4] ----------------------------- WISH LIST

    1. AI Teammates
    2. Faction states - Like from the earlier builds of GRW, where we see each faction and their current progress on the battle rewards.
    3. Ghillie Options - I like the new ghillie suits, but we need more options, and something to cover the head.
    4. Shemaugh with the default woven fabric and grid pattern.
    5. Explosive breaching options (like some spots in GRW).
    6. Bipods that flip when prone.
    7. Drones with explosives attached (a shocking regression from GRW to the drone centric GRB) - It's too big a threat in the real world today to not include this in the game.
    8. Weapon Cleanliness States - The guns get way too dirty way too fast. It's not realistic, and most weapons would jam with that amount of dirt and grime.
    9. Ability to equip tool/equipment in the second weapons slot. Some operators routinely carry industrial crowbars, launchers, etc. They don't even have to function, but it will add depth to the customization options.

As I implied before, I'm a huge fan of the genre and this franchise in particular - but I will not accept a substandard product whose true potential is so clearly visible to me, and can be fixed. I will use this game to judge wether or not I will ever purchase a UBISOFT product in the future. Ghost Recon is a flagship franchise for the studio, and despite the crap launch, they've made a promise to bring this game to the fore.

If they can't get their house in order to make these simple changes, I see no point supporting this company anymore.

Take reviews with a pinch of salt!

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 08:25 PM PST

    Sorry this is so long

Okay so, I had my eye on Ghost Recon Breakpoint from it was announced. It really caught my eye, now my first Ghost Recon I had ever played was on PS2..couldn't even see your gun in it, was literally a reticle only but it was so immersive and made you feel like a Ghost as you where meant too. I never really got into Wildlands when it first came out because in my opinion it was a huge leap from what I loved the franchise for. When Breakpoint released the reviews where terrible, they really really had put me off and in the beginning upon release from gameplay I had seen I understood why the game had received such back lash. So I left the game to venture onto other titles but I was craving a title where it was semi-realistic if not realistic and a military tactical shooter where you can approach objectives as you please. So I bought Wildlands again, enjoyed it for a bit but it has been out so long I was overwhelmed with things to do upon purchasing the complete edition, the team AI annoyed me but removing them made the game somewhat less enjoyable so I bought Breakpoint. Moving from playing Wildlands to Breakpoint I could really tell a difference in the enemy AI placement as well as the driving and physics my first hour in Breakpoint I had spent running on foot due to the distance between spawned vehicles being terrible and also constantly running into enemy patrols. This put me off, I left Breakpoint again for a good while..went back to Skyrim (Which I have near platinum in but now I have the VR version too😭) but I decided to play Breakpoint again lastnight. I cannot put the game down now that I have given it time and accepted it's flaws, because beneath those flaws there are moments of delight that are awaiting to be perfected. The combat and gunplay is amazing, I love the stealth aspect and the military aspect. If I put story and also the equipment progression aside then I'd say this game is a gem and the best way to play it is with HUD off on Extreme mode in my opinion. I am now 13 hours into my character and it is 4:24am as I write this. Luckily I'm off work until Wednesday although if possible I'd be playing this game until way later but I have had to tell myself "No you must not, tomorrow awaits" basically my point of this rant is to say, even though the reviews slaughtered the game, really give it the time and chance it needs. As a console player there really isn't that many games you can compare ghosts too..yes The Division maybe but is still on a totally different game. Breakpoint is a hidden gem beneath countless bad reviews and critique but let it speak for yourself.

    @Ubisoft - What’s the Wildlands Patch For?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 02:19 PM PST

Besides the obvious bug fixes - a lot of us would like to know what's going on.

I'd also like to ask why there's two Wildlands games and two Division games when you could have just released a huge ass $60 expansion (that we gladly would've paid for because those games are the GOAT for their IP).

    Thank you for your time.

I can't finish a main mission in Breakpoint because of a glitch

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 05:18 PM PST

I hate moaning about bugs but a particularly nastynone is stopping my story progression. I need to extract and injured character but after I finish the animation of placing them in the helicopter, my chacter gets stuck at the end of the animation. I can't move, I can't fire my weapon, I can't do anything but quit the game... Can this be fixed on my end or will the devs actually have to do something about it?
