[Spoiler Alert] My Summary of Ghost Recon: Breakpoint [My Breakpoint] Posted: 07 Jan 2020 12:10 PM PST After playing nearly 100 hours of "Ghost Recon": Breakpoint [Extreme Difficulty] I've noticed a consistent trend, everytime the game is building to something substantial in the story it always comes to a most disappointing conclusion. Wolves: These troops were highly marketed by ubi and were suppose to be organized, highly trained, ruthless, tactical soldiers operating on the same level as the Ghosts, but instead, they're headless, passive, jumped up grunts who blindly rush you and provide zero threat or pressure to the player in anything. They nearly never use grenades, or any tactics such as "supress and flank" to engage the player, this is becuase each wolve is limited by the category they fall into, such as "Rocketman" - "Sniper" - "Grenademan" - "Shotgunman" - "Minigunperson" Walker: Walker and Josiah are about the only characters who's relationship to the player's character [Nomad] feels genuine , but after finally reaching "gearscore" 100 [because every ubi shooter after 2016 is just "The Divison" repackaged] and gathering the nessecary intel to do the "avenge your brothers in arms" mission I was inherently disappointed and robbed of my time. The compound where Walker was located was the most lack luster defended location, it was a handful of "wolves" and a single behemoth in the middle of a swamp, you could just walk right into the compound whitout any trouble from the enemy. To get into the building Walker's inside you have to destroy the behemoth. [for some reason] Once you get inside the fight with Walker starts and it is terrible.. It's basicly him with maybe 4 wolves, he also has 4 little "plot armor" drones circling around his head that protect him from grenades or something and his handgun is a cheap one shot kill to the player. nevertheless after I "terminated" the little drones I flashed Walker successfully and rushed him for a grab or melee takedown but no, yet again more plot armor, eventually I had to just shoot him. The problem is the original fight was too trivial, you could beat it solo, on extreme, with little effort. This should have been a much tougher fight with multiple stages. Walker wasn't stupid, He would have had a highly fortfied remote location sorrounded by his most loyal wolves, drones and other sophisticated millitary assests, in fact he should have had Josiah stationed there as 2nd in command. He would have also had in place a contingency plan incase he had failed. The first stage at the compound in the swamp would be fine, but then there should've been a second stage location [his primary hub] that he could flee to, a location protected by the "drone swarm" that is inaccessable by air, land and sea, a location that can only be HALO Jumped to once the "virus" was succesffuly uploaded to take the "drone swarm" security systems offline. The final stage should be a 1 on 1 combat between the two characters, it would feel much more personal to the player then. NVGs/Lighting: This is a common complaint I see a lot and for good reason, this is a Tom Clancys Ghost Recon game and part of that experaince is stealthfully engaging in night time operations that require you to use NVGs, but the lighting in this game is bizare. First of all it never gets dark enough in this game to actually require you to use NVGs, it's always bright - at all hours - all the time. The only time I've seen the most impressive lgihting is durng the lightning storm, there are these brief moments after you see a flash of the lighting that leaves this really nice rich drakness on the map - those moments are how dark the map should be at night time. It's also worth noting that every doorway in this game [regardless of time of day] is pitched black until you pass through them and, even after you go through them there's a temporary moment of not being able to see anything. [NVG's have no affect on this artiffical doorway lighting thing] Open World: Okay so I understand this might be a less favourable topic among most players so I'll be breif. The problem with Open World is that the player may have too much freedom. The ability to go to nearly any location, at any time, during any stage of the game, on an unkown hostile controlled archipelago removes me from the games narrative. [That and the "Player Hub" was an immediate buzzkill]. Too much freedom takes away structure, removing this structure also removes potential goals - if you have immidiate access to everywhere the player will see most of the content of the game within the first couple of hours and upon realizing this the player may lose the incentive to continue playing as the game will become stale and repetitive very fast. You can have an Open World that works though, I would recommend that some parts of the open world should initally be locked away behind story progression [similar to how GTA used to do it with clsoed bridges] this may incentivise the player to want to play more and unlock these fresh new, possibly more threatening and rewarding locations. Conclusion: Overall it was a disappointing experience and I felt very mislead based on the marketing of the "Wolves" soldiers and the "Walker" character. These were just a couple of the critiques I have outlined from my experiance playing Ghost Recon: Breakpoint along with highlighting some suggestions for "Future" tactical shooters of this franchise - please feel free to comment below any other feedback you wish to share . Thank You. [link] [comments]

Realistic Ghost Recon style exploits in television or movies? Posted: 07 Jan 2020 05:51 PM PST So I just bought Wildlands as a direct result of watching the Amazon Jack Ryan series as there is a decent amount of Ghost Recon style activities in there and I really wanted to experience that on some level for myself. That said, I'm finding that I'm wanting more content to digest, but I'm really drawing a blank on where to find it since the only things I'm pulling off the top of my head are James Bond / Mission Impossible style movies where the exploits are entertaining but far from realistic. Anyway, I'm hoping someone here could point me toward more realistic content depicting the sort of activities the Ghosts get up to. Preferably movies / TV, but I'd even be open to some good reading if thats the best option. Thanks [link] [comments]
I really hope the next update will bring over these Wildlands mechanics. Posted: 07 Jan 2020 05:27 PM PST Holstering weapons (the code is in Wildlands, just copy and paste) Incognito/stealth driving (the code is in Wildlands, just copy and paste Map GPS (the code is in Wildlands, just copy and paste) Being able to choose when to pull your chute from any base jump (the code is in Wildlands, just copy and paste) Being able to adjust the camera with 2 additional 3rd person distances (the code is in Wildlands, just copy and paste) I know the desire for these mechanics exist but people are not bringing them up enough, and because of that, I highly doubt any of these desires will be met. I think they'll just add more cosmetics, fix the headshot screams, the altitude glitch, and the exploding vehicles and claim "You asked and we delivered!" Which is a quote from an email they sent out when BP went down to $16. No, I didn't ask for that. I asked for a refund and you specifically did not deliver, just like you most likely won't deliver on this next update. [link] [comments]
GRBP: CQC, knives, and stealth. Posted: 07 Jan 2020 08:26 AM PST I enjoy breakpoint for what it is at the moment. We all know it's lacking in major aspects so I won't spend any time beating that dead horse. But while cruising through this sub, I had a few thoughts I wanted to spitball. In its current form, CQC takes too long when almost every enemy is paired up. The immersion for me in Wildlands came from being able to holster my weapon, and quickly take down enemies using only CQC. I know everyone doesn't play this way, and with drones in BP it is harder to do a weaponless base clear. The compromise I considered which would make it seem a little more balanced is your knife being a separate equitable weapon. Hear me out; when wielding a primary or pistol, the animation remains its current length (which feel way too long, sometimes) with the compromise being you have a firearm readied immediately after the animation. If the knife were able to be equipped as its own weapon, you could perform these take downs significantly quicker at the gamble of leaving yourself vulnerable to further targets noticing and then having to draw your weapon. The biggest issue with CQC stealth takedowns is that the animation lengths leave a lot of dead space for enemies to notice you. In Wildlands, when faced with two enemies in a stealth situation, I used to be able to grapple one enemy (which was quick) and get my pistol on the head of the second enemy, then knock out the grappled enemy. This is not a viable method in BP due to grappling an unsuspecting enemy turns into a jiu jitsu match for about 5-8 seconds. I want to finish up with carrying bodies; this is a phenomenal feature, but executed poorly. Moving bodies leaves you a sitting duck for way too long and is never a viable option. The current viable option is to grapple an enemy, drag them somewhere less conspicuous and knock them out. This makes CQC not even a viable option due to the long drawn out animations (which are cool, don't get me wrong), and then the long animation of having to pick up the body and move it. This turns clearing one-two enemies a very long process, and also just feels less badass. Anyway, does anyone else have any thoughts? [link] [comments]

Got 20 gear items from the 4 raid bosses today I thought it's 10 a week? Posted: 07 Jan 2020 01:49 PM PST Also I'm not that good I had a good team and yeah only playing a week? How can you even beat the raid bosses without glitched dmr and some players having no mic? I mean I love just joining randoms and helping when my friends aren't on but how's that even going to work when dmr gets patched? People will just quit after failing the boss 3,5 or 20 times :( [link] [comments]

Posted: 07 Jan 2020 05:12 PM PST So I got GRPB @ $15 because how can I pass that up. I have put in some hours now and beat some bosses and was disappointed that we dont get their cool ass helmets after killing them, we have to buy them.... of course. So I spent $5 and was instantly regretting my purchase after I discovered that the helmet can not be modified to match my camo. Was there any mention of this being fixed? Are shop items not able to be modified? Having fun exploring though, just wish there were basic options to color my helmet I spent $5 on so I can not run around jungles, snow capped mountains, and forests in desert camo. plz help devs. why you do dis :' ( Thanks in advance for any assistance [link] [comments]

How would you even 'fix' GR Breakpoint? Posted: 07 Jan 2020 04:23 PM PST My overall experience with the game and how it was being talked about around launch as someone who bought the game recently: I was one of those who really enjoyed GR Wildlands for what it was, it had its weak points and overall it was just pretty average experience even though it had the potential to introduce some really awesome moments, but as a whole it was just rather average. I played the open beta of GR Breakpoint and didn't really care for the game. It just didn't feel as good as Wildlands did and so I just skipped the game. However, during recent sales the price was low enough for me to buy the game just to see if the full game actually was as bad as reviews and players were saying. Well, the reviews weren't really wrong, sort of. They mention the problems the game has (for example the clunky movement on ground vehicles, various unnecessary gameplay systems that are there just because, bugs, weak story etc.) but at the same time, a lot of that was also in Wildlands. One of the main criticisms Breakpoint seemed to have was the level based gear system and I also wasn't fan of the idea so I decided to just start the game on easiest difficulty to possibly counter the affects a bit. After quite a few hours into the game I feel like that has worked pretty well. I've mostly played the game solo and aside from encountering like lvl 150+ patrol with lvl 10 gear or so the gear system hasn't bothered me really. I try to play the game stealthy and headshots being one shot kills made it possible really easily, and if stealth is no longer an option the difficulty setting makes it so that I won't get frustrated due to getting one shotted by higher level opponents. So for me the gameplay loop is still fine, as it was in Wildlands, it could be better but for what it is, it's ok. A lot of people dislike the new (compared to Wildlands) mechanics like the crafting stuff and 'survival' elements but I found that you could easily ignore that part. So it feels like a lot of those mechanics could just be removed and it wouldn't change that much in the overall picture. The way the systems are in the game right now...I don't even know how they could change them to 'fix the game'. Gathering loot and collectibles is the main gameplay loop (aside from the actual stealth and gunplay stuff) that the game has going for it. Gathering loot wasn't really necessary in Wildlands but collecting random stuff was the main thing you did outside of the gunplay. Changing these things would seem like a massive task, for example to change the loot's purpose would either invalidate a ton of the 'collectibles' in the game (and there's a lot of them in the map) so I'm not sure what the good change would be. That being mentioned, the game world's huge and full of stuff, to a point where it is a bit too much. When you have to spend minutes at a time (and have to do this multiple times) to unlock various fast travel point and points of interest it gets tiresome. Another issue that was brought up a lot during game's launch was the microtransactions. I don't know if they changed that afterwards but having played this game just recently I really didn't notice that being an issue. Sure you could argue that just there being any microtransactions right from the start is lame and all that but there's so much other random useless junk in the game that you can grind without spending any extra real world money. So overall, the game has its issues but probably because I spent way less than launch day buyers on the game I didn't feel like the game was as bad as people painted it to be. Sure there are constantly annoying things regarding movement jankiness, bugs, glitches and other things that make the overall experience less fun but overall it's still a pretty average game with lots of fun stuff in it. It's still repetitive and so was Wildlands, that's the main criticism Wildlands had and that, to me at least, was the main criticism of Breakpoint. Still had fun because of the gameplay loop being so fun. Conclusion: That brings this long rant to its question; how would you even fix GR Breakpoint? Even if all bugs and glitches were fixed how could they even change the core issues people have with the gameplay stuff like the level based loot? Would seem like at that point might as well create a new game entirely. What would you even want to get fixed? I personally can't see how the game could be 'fixed' aside from making the various annoying mechanics less annoying but an overhaul just seems like a 'create a new game' type of task. I'm interested in what people would fix in the game to make it not be 'terrible' as I can't really see any major changes that they'd make that would also change people's opinion about the game. edit: edited for possibly easier reading.
