State of the Sub - October 2019 // News // Megathreads

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 08:34 AM PDT

Hello Ghosts! I want to start this post off by thanking every single one of you guys that have been a part of the sub for some time and those of you that have recently joined, this sub would not be where it is today if it weren't for all the contributions you guys give from creating discussion threads to goofy memes. You all are what make our community what it is and myself and the rest of the mods could not be happier than we are now.

To recap on some recent news within the sub and for the Ghost Recon franchise:

We recently passed our 50k subs milestone! Thank you so much everyone!

Breakpoint has officially released! While it does have it issues here and there, I personally have been having fun with the game so far and I know a lot of you guys share the same feelings, as well as some of you all not feeling quite the same. But that is okay! There's nothing wrong with us not sharing the same opinions. Just remember, regardless of how you feel about the game, please be respectful to each other. There's no reason to incite unnecessary and hateful comments towards each other. With that being said, we do encourage everyone to participate in megathreads as well as this one to voice your feedback and let your voices be heard.

There is a post (courtesy of u/ITW1824, thanks friend!) that highlights the Day 1 Patch notes from Ubisoft for the game if you missed it.

There have been some personnel switcheroos going on at Ubisoft, so as of now our new Ubi CM's are u/ubiBorghal, u/Ubi_Hayve, and u/Ubi-RealDude.

We are going to be hosting an AMA soon with Tod Fennell, who is a voice actor/mocap performer for various Ubisoft titles and did work on Breakpoint, so stayed tuned for that!

    Megathread Links

Below are links to recent discussion threads for those of you who missed them:

    Guides, tips and tricks

    What's New for the sub:

There is a new community survey that is now live for everyone! There are two sections to it, the first one is the main survey, and the second one is an optional survey that is focused around Breakpoint. We encourage everyone to participate in the survey and to leave honest feedback. Please refrain from leaving troll responses in order to preserve the poll's integrity.

Some of you may have noticed that we've quietly added community rewards to the sub in the form of the Nomad Award and the Walker Award! We are always open to suggestions for new community rewards, so if you have any ideas please leave a comment with a suggestion you may have!

The mod team has had several discussions, and we have decided that we want to expand our mod team! We are looking for dedicated Ghost Recon fans who are passionate about the community and are looking to join us in continuing with our effort to make this sub the best that it can be. Here's the link to the application, we will be accepting applications until October 18th. Best of luck to everyone who applies!

Once again, thank you everyone for being part of r/GhostRecon, we love you all and we wouldn't be here without you guys and your passion for the franchise.

400 points per day battle rewards cap has got to go!

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 11:07 AM PDT

This is especially frustrating for me as I have time to play for a week before I go back to work when I won't have time to play at all. Plus, I reach the cap and there are still faction missions and faction supports sitting in the queue waiting to be completed. Why have a cap and a certain amount of missions available each day? That makes no sense.

Why is the breaching torch not just a contextual action?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 07:13 AM PDT

You can only use at certain fences not at any point like say grenades or C4.
Why must I go into my menu, equip the torch, use it, go into the menu again, re-equip my grenade/mine/C4 etc, and then I can go back to playing.
In short there is to much fidgeting in menus for something that could be a action prompt when standning next to a fence.

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 05:44 AM PDT

I don't know why this is a thing, it really doesn't make sense from a story standpoint or gameplay-wise since all you can do with them is inspect them. I'd much prefer to run around the camp by myself and I'm sure it would load a lot faster too.

Add a third menu wheel, for rations only.

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 12:43 PM PDT

Using rations is cumbersome and clunky, and literally relies on pausing the game multiple times to use a simple ration. It's very frustrating.

Personally, I'd like the emote wheel to be cometely replaced by a ration wheel, but understand that the devs wouldn't remove a thing where people can show off bought emotes.

However, just adding a third wheel, exclusively for rations, would allow players to assess a situation and then grab their buff of choice, all while being in the world, instead of having to navigate a slow inventory menu unnecessarily.

Anyone else feel like stealth is ruined by those ADHD drones?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 03:58 AM PDT

When I attack a base those stupid drones always spot me. If you shoot at it and it takes half damage it alerts everyone, if you destroy it then the explosion alerts the whole base. It's like what's the point of even using a suppressor then? I might aswell go in guns blazing at every base which I really don't want to do. Has anyone found a workaround for the stupid drones?

Loving the game, but since when does running through grass cake your shoes in green goo?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 07:35 AM PDT

Seriously, the dirt effects in this game are absolutely ridiculous. Taking 3 steps in light dusty ground immediately renders your entire boots caked in brown mud, and your primary weapon now has a whole new mud camo on it.

What's the point in finding (or buying) all this cosmetic gear, if it's just caked in mud 24/7

Please devs, do an update for this, as I can only assume it's a bug.

These guys are pretty entertaining to watch and have been a large proponent for Ghost Recon's tactical elements. I have been watching them since Wildlands.

Why the hell does night vision not even work

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 02:15 PM PDT

In Breakpoint it's not even night vision it is just a green filter on screen. In a dark hallway and can't see 80% of it? Turn on night vision and still can't see 80% of it and what you can see is just green. It worked way better in Wildlands. I don't understand how they had good machanics in Wildlands and they just regressed them in this game.

Attachments need a BIG re-work. GRB dev team learned nothing from TD2, who had the exact same issue.

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 09:34 AM PDT

I'm only gear score 75 and am just now discovering what GRB has done with their attachments. It's so disappointing.

Basically when TD2 first released, their attachments were similar to GRB's in the sense that there's always negatives to go along with the positives of using attachments.

For example, the RVG Vertical Foregrip (described as "Best vertical recoil compensation at the cost of reload speed and horizontal recoil.") gives you -15% vertical recoil, BUT it also comes with +15% horizontal recoil, -15% reload speed, and +10% shot spread.

Who the fuck would ever opt for those 3 negative effects just for slightly less vertical recoil?

This is the case for EVERY attachment.

What TD2 team quickly learned is that players just weren't using attachments at all because their net benefit was negligible. There was also very little incentive to even obtain the attachments in the first place.

And so what they did was they either removed or drastically reduced the negative effects of using an attachment, while simultaneously slightly reducing the positive effects.

In the case of the RVG Foregrip, it should be something more like -10% vertical recoil, and +5% horizontal recoil.

As it stands, in many cases it's better to use NO attachment at all then have to suffer though the off-setting drawbacks of using them.

Aside from the scopes, I have almost zero incentive to pursue attachment blueprints as it stands. I most certainly won't be spending anymore skell credits on them.

Edit: And not only is that design decision stupid, but the descriptions of attachments don't even align with the +/- percentages it displays.

For the STFG Angled Grip, it says "Time to aim and mobility at the cost of horizontal recoil." But then it lists -10% horizontal recoil...?

I'm starting to notice a bunch of shit doesn't make sense on a lot of the attachments.

    Stealth impossible sometimes...

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 11:38 AM PDT

On bigger enemy bases stealth is nearly impossible because of those flying drones that detect every little think that you do... as soon as you drop a dude with a sniper the drone almost feels it and immediately just goes and boom dead body detected...that's retarded and also there is too much guards in bases overall in Wildlands was perfect amount of enemies you could do stealth whenever you want but here if you don't hide even one body after you snipe as soon as you approach the base boom all enemies know somebody has been killed and of course all of them go on the exact position where you are even if they don't hear where the shot came from... AI is so bad... terrible...i even tried to play on Arcade difficulty, same thing happens... I also tried destroying the drones but of course the drone explodes like an atomic bomb and everybody hears it...
