What if gear also had a worn in look?

I was wondering how people would feel about gear having a worn in look and the ability to make it new again? Much like weapon paint renewal.

This is just a list of I wants TOOLS 1. Mountain climbing gear it would so cool if we can climb up or down mountains. It would give me a lot of options to go to an area making me actually want to explore the world. 2. Rappel lines Having rappel line in helicopters in the game would make me so happy. Instead of jumping out rappelling down would provide more a tactical feel to it.

ENVIRONMENT 1. Actual survival mechanics The game has options to make food or fill canteens to hydrate yourself but you never have the opportunity feel the need to use them. Please if your going to place them actually make them matter. 2. Dangerous weather. Please have weather that actually harms the player like tornados or something. 3. Overhaul the bivoacs Please put in a little bit of base building that makes me feel like I'm actually running an operation. This can be used for hiding in case of bad weather or at least for cosmetic purposes. 4. Destructable environment
    Just because.

PVP 1. Deathmatch 10v10 I know ghost recon is about being a ghost and be unseen but sometimes I just want some mindless shootouts and dying then respawning and not waiting for a while for the match to start again.

Anyone else find the AI teammates in breakpoint garbage?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 04:43 PM PST

Am I the only one that seems to find the AI teammates in breakpoint nothing more than meat yields and a instakills? They don't listen to clear The Hot Zone or rally up, they get stuck on random garbage cuz they're pathing is trash, you can't order them around individually which means you don't have as much Freedom as you would if you were able to order them around individually, they are almost never near you so you can get snuck up on while you're in the Drone and not even realize it, they just dont work as is

Lack of Realism, and How to Fix It

Hey all. I've been playing Ghost Recon: Breakpoint recently and I've noticed quite a few things that seem out of place and/or unrealistic for this type of game.

    Gear

In Breakpoint, there is a decent selection of gear to choose from, which is great! The problem is that there are a few things that we cannot change that are outdated, etc.

    • Holster Retention - Your character is supposedly a Ghost, which is a top secret group that 'officially' doesn't exist (Similar to 1st SFOD-D aka Delta Force). You would think they would be issued at least somewhat up to date gear, but no. Everyone still uses crappy drop leg holsters with no retention. And for those unfamiliar, by retention, I mean how the gun is retained in the holster. For duty use (what the military would use), you want AT LEAST a Level II retention holster, which means it has passive retention (just the gun being in the holster), and some type of locking system to keep it in. Pictured below is a Safariland 6354DO, which is a holster that features ALS (Auto Locking System). So basically, to retrieve the gun, you need to press a button. There are also Level III, and even Level IV holsters, but I won't get into that.

Drawing from a LVL III retention holster (Passive, ALS, and Hood)

    • Holster Ride Height - Holster ride height is basically how low (or high) your holster sits on your leg. There are mounting devices that allow them to be belt mounted, all the way down to your lower thigh (as seen in game). The ones in game are drop leg holsters. These holsters would definitely not be used by Ghosts. They would most likely use Safariland Mid Rides, which places the holster slightly below your belt. The reason drop legs are not ideal, is because you have to reach very far down to retrieve a weapon, and they can wobble around quite a bit.

    • Mag Pouches - In Breakpoint, your character has mag pouches on his plate carrier that are singular, and look like they were bought off of Amazon for 5$. Anyways, from what I've seen, SOF is switching to placards. Placards are basically pouches that you clip onto your plate carrier, and come in many varieties. Some have just mag pouches, some have admin pouches and medical, etc. Images below. Another thing with the mag pouches is that there is no ability to use open top or actively retained ones.

Spiritus MK4 With their Half Flap

    • Magic Guns on Your Back/Lack of Slings - Somehow, your character in Breakpoint has telekinesis and is able to stick his guns to his back. Realistically, you may have one gun on your back and one on a sling if you have two. But for some reason, when holstering or transitioning to a pistol, your character slaps a rifle onto his back and continues on. When transitioning to pistol, you should put your rifle down or to the side, and switch. Transitions can be very fast in reality. Video below.

Here's me performing a rifle to pistol transition, doing a tac reload, then recovering rifle. Note that I don't slap the gun onto my back lol

    • Plate Carrier and Belt Setup - Your character only has mag pouches on his plate carrier, and mag pouches + a holster on his belt. In reality, especially if you are in a combat situation, you are going to have an IFAK, probably a knife, multitool, admin pouch, dump pouch, etc. It would be even cooler if in game we could customize our plate carriers and belts to our liking. But yeah, belt and plate carrier setups are a bit too minimal here. They say carry only what you need, but they don't even have what they need.

    Gun Stuff

In Breakpoint, there are quite a few realism issues when it comes to the firearms in game.

    • AR Platform Reloads - When performing a bolt lock reload, your character pulls the charging handle back instead of using the bolt release. You wouldn't do this. Generally, the charging handle is used for clearing malfunctions and a few other niche uses. Video below the "Lack of Reload Choices" section of a more ideal bolt lock reload for rifle and pistol. Also, with handgun, when reloading, the slide goes back even on a tactical reload.
    • Tac Reloads - The type of reload your character preforms in game is a "Tactical reload", which basically means you retain the rest of the ammunition in the magazine you have just used. This is fine, but the way your character performs this is not ideal. Instead, a way to get the magazine in the gun faster AND not have to have a free slot in your magazine pouch (IRL), what you can do is: Take the new mag out of your plate carrier/belt, bring it up next to the old magazine, and make an L shape and rotate the magazines. Now you have a new magazine in the gun and can reindex the old one into your mag pouch. You can also put them side by side and replace them. COD MW does a good job at this. Video below.
    • Lack of Reload Choices - What I mean by this is that we should have two options for reloads. Speed/Emergency Reload, and Tac Reload. Similar to Insurgency: Sandstorm, Ground Branch, Escape from Tarkov, etc. This way, we could retain ammo when performing a Tac Reload, but if we need to reload hastily because we are in heavy combat, we drop the magazine and lose that ammo. (Maybe we could pick up dropped mags?). Videos below of a speed reload and tac reload with both rifle and pistol.

Me performing a speed reload with a rifle, then a tac reload

Doing a speed reload with pistol

Pistol tac reload. Older video so I duck my head in way too much

    • Bullet Velocity/Ballistics - I get this game is supposed to be a bit arcadey, but bullet velocity is incredibly slow. It needs to be sped up, at least a bit. Same with drop. Bullets drop way too much, way too fast.
    • Malfunctions - I think if we had malfunctions every so often (maybe a setting to enable/disable), it would be great. Double feeds, stovepipes, failure to extract, etc. It would provide a lot of tension during gunfights and encourage teammates covering you while clearing them.
    • Handgun and Rifle Grip - First, handguns. Your character in Breakpoint holds their handgun with an outdated and just weird grip. You want a high, tight grip. With rifle, your character loosely cradles them, doesn't grip them. It would be cool to at least have an option for a more modern thumb over bore grip as well. (Better known as the C Clamp). Images below.

C Clamp/Thumb over bore rifle grip

Better and more effective handgun grip

Thanks all for reading. Let me know if there's anything else I should add here in the comments!
