The 516 Shorty. Another gun totally ruined by the variant system.

    Posted: 11 Dec 2019 06:52 AM PST

Why does the variant system even exist? All it does is ruin potentially great guns. Let's start with trigger restrictions. This is the real reason the variant system is stupid. In a game that's supposed to be stealth focused, limiting weapons to 3 round burst/full auto is stupid. Take aim at a targets head, take the shot but OH! I accidentally fired off another round because there's no semi auto on an AR-15. Where'd that second bullet go? All the way across the base, making impact right next to another dude I didn't see. Base is now on red alert!!! Yes this has happened to me plenty of times in the past and it's really annoying.

Now with the 516 Shorty in particular, Ubisoft had the cosmetics down pretty good. Until I actually got ahold of it. Now I'm back to Wildlands, with a tan brick called a PEQ-15 hanging off the side because there's no top rail. It's the 416 Assault all over again. At least this one can be suppressed but that's a whole other rant.

Ubisoft! We told you repeatedly in Wildlands what we wanted. The variant system could have been great but you took a giant leap backwards and took away one of the best parts about the Ghost Recon series. I'm okay with the tiered loot system. I'm okay with online only. I'm even okay with fighting (somewhat) bullet sponge enemies/drones, but you took away one of the best parts of the game. Now every time I see a new gun that looks cool in the Battle Rewards, I look for the words "Shorty" and "Assault" first, because I know immediately that it will be rendered unusable.

To summarize, the weapon variant system is a huge missed opportunity that should never have been implemented in the first place and it never fails to ruin good guns for me.

    Rant over! Thanks for reading.

    Long range double kill!

God damn it, wish we had the ability to top mount the laser on the 516 shorty...ah well.

    The variant system and gunsmith.

    Posted: 11 Dec 2019 08:06 AM PST

Please do away with the variant system, besides being highly limited in attachments and set ups being not visually appealing, there is a damage balance issue that quite ridiculous as well. You have a bunch of guns firing the same round out of the same barrel length doing wildly different damage.

Standardize damage and velocity for calibers and modify by barrel length.

    Allow us to change:

    Barrel length

    Stocks(preferably just a cosmetic effect)

Handguard(changing attachments points available, so having a longer rail for example would be able to have both a fore grip and bipod, side note foregrips are placed way to far to the rear.)

Magwell grips(many people have no interest in being forced to use these)

    Trigger groups

Optics( unlock all the unnecessarily restricted ones and fix the incorrect visuals when looking through a magnifier with holographic as well as most other magnified optics)

Suppressors( unlock them for all the guns but also make them work with the muzzle devices that they would actually be able to thread over. Currently they are used on many muzzle devices they should not and clip through while there are several muzzle devices that have threading to adapt suppressors and don't allow it.

Magazines(allow us to choose magazine type where they are compatible, so for example the 516 let us use the same mags the 416 uses. Also make sure they are the correct capacity.

With the current limitations and lack of authenticity the gunsmith and variant system is incredibly disappointing. With this system if there is anyone that actually likes the cosmetics of the current variants they would still be able to build them cosmetically, so they wouldn't be stripped of that.

Got all those new blueprints which was cool... THE 416 ASSAULT CAN'T HAVE A SUPPRESSOR?!? WTF. WHO MAKES THESE RIDICULOUS CHOICES

    Posted: 11 Dec 2019 05:14 PM PST

I literally just put all these parts and money into getting a gold one and then bringing it to mk3 just to find out you're not allowed to suppress it. I can't even with this game anymore

Either me or the raids are in a wrong game

    Posted: 11 Dec 2019 07:53 AM PST

I've played the raids now with some nice folks and I have to say they are well designed and offer a nice challenge.

That being said, they are absolutely in a wrong game. Or maybe I'm an idiot when I'm still trying to find the immersive side of the game and see it as a successor to Wildlands (which I loved).

If this was The Division the raids would be absolutely great. But the gameplay in the boss fights is like from Megaman or some other old platformer, with nothing to do with Ghost Recon or the military shooter genre.

I really, really, really hope the next game will either go all in with the futuristic AI and drone theme (and advertise it properly) or take the survival mechanics, immersive realistic environments and hardcore gameplay seriously. I would personally buy only the latter game, of course, but I understand people have different tastes. I have nothing against players who like the raids, but I just don't find them interesting.

I really hope the next game could have more challenge, more grit, less HUD, real world location like central Africa or southeast Asia, only realistic enemies and places, believable factions, more weapon customization, less halloween costumes and so on.

Getting the cool blueprint weapons for free has shown me how awful this gunsmith really is

    Posted: 11 Dec 2019 02:57 AM PST

Its always something with Ubi, all I wanted was just 1 SBR AR. Just one. No wacky bullpup stock (looking at you 416 shorty) or no wacky punisher ish magwell grip like the Koblin. The 516 just happened to have some weird ass army surplus looking rail, the M4a1 was kinda badass then, no suppressor. Of course. But oh wait the mk48 compact was cool, no suppressor again.

The restrictions are very very annoying. Im gonna say this now Ubi. Every players rifle should be unique. We dont all like the same things. So building these tricked out guns you think everyone or most people should like, Is not the way to go.

I almost feel forced to use some of these weapons, they aren't me. And im a player who likes the basic tacticool 416 style SBR so Im very basic. But some people want a suppressed MK48, or an AK with an ACSS and a short barrel.

Again players should have the freedom. Take out these damn weapon variants, refund us some of the in game currency or even dont i dont care. Let us choose the rails, barrels, stocks etc. Of our guns. And maybe some barrels need to be so long for a specific rail? Okay thats fine. Or have the rails come in different sizes to.

But to wrap this up. Please do something. This game has already turned into a circus with the raid and shit. I thought the raid was gonna be a Bin Laden Zero Dark thirty style boogaloo not a giant robot haha.

    Thanks for your time guys.

So something I was griping about last night when I was playing was that the "kits" in Ghost Recon make absolutely no sense. They arent very functional or realistic just really "tacticool"

Developers have allegedly heard that console deadzones suffer from severe input lag, but an official response is needed.

    Posted: 11 Dec 2019 08:21 AM PST

Ever since Wildlands beta console players have experienced a terrible bug that almost disguises itself as a feature. In Ghost Recon, your player is supposed to feel heavy. With this design, the movement feels weighty and your every move sways to your body weight.

On consoles however, the input lag mixed with the weighty feel of your character makes aiming feel absolutely terrible. Imagine playing the tactical shooter of your dreams but your controller is stuck in concentrated molasses.

Now I am unsure what the technical explanation is behind this, but it's one of two things: input lag or an intentionally misleading deadzone setting. This is not just PS4, and it is not just in-game. This is happening on TVs, monitors, and both consoles. Game Mode on TV does not help. A $600 monitor with 1ms response time does not help. A wired controller does not help. Higher quality consoles do not help, for I have a PS4 Pro.

This problem existed in The Division but has since been fixed in Division 2. This change needs to be known, but since Ubisoft releases games that require so much work, an issue that only console players experience is seeming to be ignored. And since it is so slight of a delay, people may be mistaking it for the "weightiness" that I mentioned earlier. If this were a weightiness problem, however, this would NOT be present in the loading screens. Getting to the correct menu is a minigame in itself.

Compare the Breakpoint navigation quality to Apex Legends. I'm not comparing gameplay, simply the "cursor" for navigation. It is night and day. Here are some estimates that another redditor uses to approximate how far this deadzone/input lag reaches until a response is seen from Nomad.

I am not asking for help, but I would appreciate your camaraderie. I know people want new content. So do I. Personally I love the idea of squading up as Wolves in another player's game is an awesome idea recently posted. But right now, there are a large number of your community members that can't aim properly, can't even hit shots with fluidity, and find it damn near impossible to hit a moving target. We need everyone to be aware of this problem until it is fixed and I will continue to make others aware of this until this is seen as just as important as the other bugs in the game.

Please make this visible so that the developers can see it... We are drowned in complaints from the Raid, bugs, and other understandable forms of feedback, but we can't even enjoy the game. Please stand alongside your console community and let the developers know that this needs to be fixed, as it's a problem that has existed for years.

    Years.

UPDATE: An Ubisoft source on Reddit said that this issue has been passed on to developers, but u/Chris15Voice claims that this issue has been glossed over before, ignored in Wildlands and seeing no actual update or fix.

Option to favourite/lock gear in your Inventory

    Posted: 11 Dec 2019 04:26 AM PST

As the title says I want to be able to lock certain gear/items/weapons so I won't accidentally sell or deconstruct them.

As of right now, the only option to do this, is to equip the items on another class or loadout.

    Thank you!
